New Music: Nelly – ‘Thanks to My Ex’

Nelly’s personal life has taken the spotlight once again. The St. Louis rapper addresses the recent reports that he is dating Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s ex-fiancĂ©e Shantel Jackson on a new R&B song called “Thanks to My Ex.”

The boxing champ felt betrayed that Jackson would date Nelly, who he considers one of his friends. Nelly was surprised to learn that he and Floyd were friends, and has recorded a response.

“It’s his bad you found a new lover / It’s her fault I’m looking for another / It ain’t our problem, girl / One man’s trash is another man’s treasure,” he sings.

Out of anger, Floyd took to Instagram to share Jackson’s ultrasound results and revealed that she had an abortion. He later deleted the posts.

Hear Nelly go on the record about his headline-making romance.

Pharrell Performs with Nelly, Diddy, Busta Rhymes, & Snoop Dogg at NBA All-Star Game

Snoop Dogg, Diddy, Pharrell, Nelly, and Busta Rhymes

Before the NBA’s greatest players hit the court, Pharrell tipped off Sunday’s All-Star Game with a 20-minute medley of his greatest hits featuring some special guests. The Grammy-winning producer provided the soundtrack to the player introductions beginning with his 2003 single “Frontin’.”

Nelly emerged to perform his Neptunes-produced hit “Hot in Herre” before Skateboard P continued with “I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me).”

Diddy and Busta Rhymes helped turn up New Orleans’ Smoothie King Center with “Pass the Courvoisier, Part II.” But instead of the usual lyrics, they switched things up for 2014, chanting “Pass the Ciroc this way.”

Pharrell (sans Robin Thicke) made his way through the crowd for “Blurred Lines,” and his fellow N.E.R.D. bandmate Chad Hugo joined him on keyboard for “Rock Star.”

“Let’s take it back to the essence, Chad,” said P.

Snoop Dogg hit the stage with “Beautiful,” and the Western Conference players entered to “Drop It Like It’s Hot.”

For the closing number, Pharrell donned his famous hat in red while performing “Get Lucky” and his top 10 hit “Happy” as Diddy, Busta, Nelly, and Snoop danced onstage.

“No words for how grateful I am these legends joined me 2nite,” tweeted Pharrell.

Rap-Up TV: Nelly Talks Favorite Albums of 2013, Miley Cyrus, & Holiday Plans

From the release of his seventh album M.O. to his role on BET’s “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” Nelly has had a busy year. The St. Louis rapper, who won Single of the Year at the American Music Awards for his collaboration with Florida Georgia Line, was in a celebratory mood while hosting Tostitos Pre-Fiesta Bowl Party at Cabo Cantina on L.A.’s Sunset Strip.

As guests snacked on Tostitos Fajita-flavored Scoops!, Nelly came to the defense of his friend Miley Cyrus, who he collaborated with on “4×4″ off her album Bangerz.

“I love Miley, that’s like a little sister,” he told Rap-Up TV. “I think she’s getting a chance to be herself and find herself. I think sometimes in this business we don’t get the same opportunities as the average person gets to find themselves and [be] allowed to make certain mistakes without being judged.”

He looked back on the past year in music and shared some of his favorite albums. “Drake’s album was dope,” said Nelly, who also singled out Jay Z’s Magna Carta…Holy Grail.

With Christmas around the corner, how does he plan to spend the holidays? “I just want to be home,” said Nelly. “I love having family come over for the holidays. It’s just getting them to leave that’s the problem. Every time I wake up, there’s somebody still there.”

In 2014, look for Nelly in the upcoming drama Reach Me starring Sylvester Stallone plus new music. “We want to get right back into doing another album as soon as possible,” he said.

Arsenio Performs ‘Country Grammar’ After Losing Bet with Nelly

Nelly and Arsenio Hall

Arsenio Hall had to face the music after he lost a bet with Nelly. During Nelly’s appearance on his talk show earlier this month, Arsenio made a bet with him that he would have to perform “Country Grammar” if his L.A. Dodgers lost the NLCS championship to Nelly’s St. Louis Cardinals.

After the Dodgers’ defeat last week, Nelly returned to the show to collect. Arsenio sported a Cardinals jersey and performed Nelly’s song “Country Grammar” as the St. Louis rapper watched with delight.

“You look great, you look awesome,” Nelly told him.

Nelly and Future Perform on ‘Arsenio’

With his album M.O. in stores, Nelly continued his promo tour with a visit to “The Arsenio Hall Show” on Tuesday. Sporting a Beatles T-shirt, the St. Louis rapper performed “Give U Dat” with some help from Future.

“This album is to reinstate Nelly back into the music business,” he said of his seventh album.

Arsenio, a Dodgers fan, also made a bet with Cardinals fan Nelly that if the Dodgers win the NCLS he has to return to the show and perform “Country Grammar” in a Dodgers uniform.

He also asked him about the controversial Miley Cyrus. “I think Miley’s very talented,” said Nelly, who appears on the singer’s album Bangerz. “I think people overlook that because sometimes we want people to remain the same way that they are. … I understand some people may not like it, but she’s an artist. We don’t have to be politically correct.”

Plus, he spoke about his fitness regimen, his famous Band-Aid, and his relationship with Kelly Rowland. “Kelly is a phenomenal person, she’s a phenomenal artist, and she’s just like a sister to me,” he said.

Check out Nelly’s interview and performance below.

Nelly Lets Loose on ‘Chelsea Lately’

Nelly stopped by “Chelsea Lately” for some freaky fun on Monday. Comedian Loni Love filled in for host Chelsea Handler, but the interview was just as outrageous. After exchanging hugs (and ass grabs), the St. Louis rapper spoke about his new album M.O., his longevity, and female MCs.

“It is definitely harder for females in this business,” he said. “It shouldn’t be, but it is. They have just as much talent, just as much creative ability as anybody else to make great music.”

Nelly, who is one of the owners of the Charlotte Bobcats, flirted with Loni and even let her touch his abs.

“You ain’t too big for no spankin’,” he told her, to which she replied, “Can you bench press 240?”

Watch Nelly get loose with Loni on late night.
