Nicki Minaj Gets Animated for Cartoon Network’s ‘Steven Universe’

Nicki Minaj unleashes her superpowers in an upcoming episode of Cartoon Network’s animated series “Steven Universe.”

The “Pills N Potions” rapper lends her voice to Sugilite, the mighty and powerful fusion of Garnet and Amethyst, two of the show’s magically powered “gems” who help protect the world.

TV Guide has a sneak peek from the episode, which was screened at Comic-Con in San Diego last week.

The episode also features Estelle, who voices the warrior Garnet.

This is not Nicki’s first animated feature. She previously voiced a woolly mammoth named Hailey in the 2012 movie Ice Age: Continental Drift and played an animated version of herself on Fox’s “The Cleveland Show.”

Nicki Minaj Fires Back at ‘Anaconda’ Cover Critics

Nicki Minaj has a message for those who criticize her “Anaconda” cover art. The rap diva took to Instagram to post a series of photos of models with their butts to the camera to illustrate the double standards in beauty. She wrote “acceptable” next to racy images of Kate Upton and Nina Agdal posing in swimsuits.

“Angelic. Acceptable. Lol,” she said of a Sports Illustrated cover with Agdal, Lily Aldridge, and Chrissy Teigen.

To make her point, she then reposted her “Anaconda” cover art, which shows her squatting down in a G-string. She captioned the risqué photo “UNACCEPTABLE.”

Some of Nicki’s Barbz went on the attack, hurling insults at Teigen. “Nicki Minaj gets King magazine covers & @chrissyteigen can only get sports illustrated she a bum hoe,” tweeted one.

“I just landed and I have a nicki minaj fans going absolutely batshit on me. No idea why,” wrote Teigen.

Rap-Up TV: Common Talks State of Hip-Hop, Praises Kendrick Lamar and Nicki Minaj

With his 10th album Nobody’s Smiling in stores, Common sat down with Rap-Up TV for part two of our exclusive interview. A 20-year veteran himself, the Chi-town MC weighed in on the current state of hip-hop.

“I love hip-hop. I love where hip-hop is. There’s future in hip-hop,” he said. “You always have dark, light, quality, non-quality, but there’s some quality hip-hop out there.”

He singled out the TDE camp in particular. “I can appreciate the aspects of the quality hip-hop and the freedom that I get out of artists, whether it’s Ab-Soul or Kendrick Lamar,” he said. “Their whole team does unique things.”

So can we expect a collaboration between him and the Compton MC? “Man, I would love to do a record with Kendrick,” said Common. “That album [good kid, m.A.A.d city] to me is like one of the most complete albums we’ve heard in hip-hop in a long time. It was the album that set a milestone [...] from the new era of rap artists.”

He also praised Nicki Minaj’s Chicago-inspired record “Chi-Raq.” “I love that joint. I was rockin’ it as soon as I heard it,” he said. “I think Nicki Minaj is a dope MC. She can really rhyme to me. From what she did on ‘Monster’ to now, she still is snappin’. When you hear her rap, you’re like, damn, this woman is cold. I mess with Nicki Minaj.”
