Rap-Up TV: Lloyd and Nipsey Hussle Perform ‘Feelin’ Myself’ Live in L.A.

Lloyd showed L.A. lots of love by surprising the crowd with three hometown rappers during his opening spot on Diddy-Dirty Money’s “Coming Home” tour. In addition to Game and YG, the shirtless R&B crooner shared the spotlight with Nipsey Hussle for their collabo “Feelin’ Myself.”

New Music: Nipsey Hussle – ‘The Marathon’ [Mixtape]

The Marathon

Nipsey Hussle gives the streets what they’ve been waiting for with the release of his mixtape The Marathon. The 18-track freebie is the precursor to his debut studio album South Central State of Mind, due in 2011. The West Coast MC is hoping to get out of his deal with Epic Records so he can release the album independently.

“I’m in the process of negotiating my release right now,” he told HipHopDX. “And we just gonna go back to doing what we been doing, as far as an independent company and serving our region. But it wasn’t really no big fallout with the label or nothin’ like that.”

Rap-Up TV: Tyga Performs with Nipsey Hussle and Y.G. in L.A.

Drake brought out Nicki Minaj for his headlining set, but his Young Money cohort Tyga had his own special guests during his opening spot at L.A.’s Gibson Amphitheatre on Thursday (Nov. 4). First came South Central’s own Nipsey Hussle, who performed “Hussle in the House,” followed by Compton’s Y.G. with his ubiquitous hit “Toot It and Boot It.” Watch them spread California love.

Video: Nipsey Hussle f/ Lloyd – ‘Feelin’ Myself’

Nipsey Hussle takes it back to 2004 with a pre-haircut Lloyd in the Marc Klasfeld-directed video for “Feelin’ Myself,” the official version of the clip that leaked a few weeks back. Focusing in on Nipsey’s humble beginnings, the vid shows the Cali rapper waking up on the floor of his South Central home where he records at a makeshift studio in the corner of his bedroom.

“The concept is basically the fruits of our labor, the hard work paying off,” Nipsey told Rap-Up TV on set in his old stomping grounds. “It’s about the struggle I had to get into the position I’m at as far as being a valued player in this hip-hop thing.”

Rap-Up TV: On Set of Nipsey Hussle’s ‘Feelin’ Myself’ Video

Nipsey Hussle invited Rap-Up TV to his Crenshaw stomping grounds for an exclusive look at the video for “Feelin’ Myself,” the first single from his debut album South Central State of Mind, due later this fall. The West Coast rapper’s neighbors and Twitter followers filled the streets of 57th and Harcourt with the hopes of making an appearance in the Marc Klasfeld-directed clip. With his hometown behind him and his proud father and brother on set, rap’s rising star cruised the block in his Benz, throwing money in the air.

“The concept is basically the fruits of our labor, the hard work paying off,” Nipsey told Rap-Up TV. “It’s about the struggle I had to get into the position I’m at as far as being a valued player in this hip-hop thing.”

Lloyd, whose smooth vocals can be heard on the 1500 or Nothin’ production, stopped by to lend his support and make a cameo. “That’s just the homie,” he said of his collaborator. “I think Nipsey is on the up and coming. I think he’s one of the hottest from the West.”

The West Coast MC invited hundreds of his neighbors and Twitter followers to join him on set, where he showed how his humble beginnings turned into larger-than-life realities, cruising the block in a $200,000+ Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

The Marc Klasfeld-directed clip co-stars Lloyd, who filmed his scenes at night on the corner of 57th St. and Harcourt Ave.
