Omarion turns 28 today and celebrates by dropping the video for “M.I.A.” Maybach O teams with his MMG labelmate Wale on their collaboration off the Self Made, Vol. 2 compilation. The cinematic clip co-stars former RichGirl member Brave and model Jasmin Jaye.
He also announced that his Care Package EP will be released on November 29. “It’s so appropriate to drop a EP/mixtape before the year is out, something special,” said O, who also revealed the cover art. “A Care Package for the winter to keep the love warm.”
As cuffing, err, cuddle season quickly approaches, Omarion is readying a new project to set the mood right. The Maybach Music crooner has announced that his EP/mixtape Care Package will arrive on November 12.
MMG’s Wale cashes in with the star-studded remix to his Self Made, Vol. 2 single “Bag of Money” featuring Rick Ross, T-Pain, Omarion, Yo Gotti, Lil Wayne, French Montana, and Black Cobain. If the five-and-a-half minutes doesn’t satisfy you, the extended version will drop Friday.
Omarion is holding it down for R&B as the first singer signed to Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group. Rap-Up TV caught up with the former B2K frontman while he was in the studio working on his MMG debut. He shared what it’s like to be part of the family, what he admires about the Bawse, and how he came up with his alter ego Maybach O.
“It’s a name that I adopted coming in thinking about the concepts of the records, listening to Meek Mill and Wale and Rozay,” said O, whose Ross-assisted single “Let’s Talk” is featured on the Self Made, Vol. 2 compilation. “A Maybach is not a cheap car. It’s expensive and you’ve got to have taste.”
Omarion is 20-30 songs deep into recording his new album, due this winter. “I’m so excited to give people what I feel has been missing from music, the feeling, the emotion,” he explained. “I really put my all into this album.”
Plus, he shared his support for fellow crooner Frank Ocean following the revelation of his sexuality. “It feels good when you can be honest, you can walk around with things that you don’t have to carry around anymore,” said Omarion. “And I feel like it might have been a burden for him. I feel like he can walk around and feel happy about who he is now. Anyone that has something they need to get off their chest, I respect.”
To celebrate the release of Self Made, Vol. 2, Rick Ross and his Maybach Music crew took over “106 & Park.” First the Bawse brought our MMG’s newest member Omarion, who premiered the video for “Let’s Talk.” Wale was up next, speaking about competiting with his fellow MMG MCs and his BET Awards nominations. Stalley also joined his mentor on stage, but it was Meek Mill who got the biggest reaction. The Philly rapper spoke about his upcoming debut Dreams & Nightmares, due August 28.
“It’s my first album. A lot of people expecting a lot from me, so I’m finna get in there and give it everything I got and make some noise,” said Meek, who was recently co-signed by Nas. “It just motivates me and gives me more confidence to do what I do best.”
The Untouchable Empire will hit the stage at the BET Awards on July 1.
Maybach Music introduces its newest member Omarion in the video for “Let’s Talk” featuring Rick Ross. Maybach O cavorts with scantily-clad women, shows off his slick moves, and rolls with the Bawse in the clip. He even teaches French Montana a move or two.
The former B2K member is working on an EP and is featured on MMG’s Self Made, Vol. 2 compilation, due June 26.
The summer belongs to Maybach Music Group. Rick Ross and his Untouchable Empire unveil the epic cover art for Self Made, Vol. 2.
