Pharrell gets his shine on alongside Daft Punk in a commercial for the electro duo’s upcoming album Random Access Memories. In the one-minute clip, which aired during “SNL,” The Neptunes producer performs the first single “Get Lucky” in a sequined blazer alongside Daft Punk and guitarist Nile Rodgers.
Pharrell also appears on “Lose Yourself to Dance,” another disco-infused track off the duo’s first album in eight years, due May 21.
Pharrell toasted 40 years of greatness with a lavish birthday bash at LIV nightclub at Fontainebleau in Miami on Friday. The birthday boy was joined by his friends and collaborators including Lil Wayne, Jennifer Hudson, Miley Cyrus, Leah LaBelle, Pusha T, and Teyana Taylor.
His Neptunes producing partner Chad played DJ, getting some help from Kermit the Frog. The crowd serenaded the music mastermind with “Happy Birthday” and presented him with a special cake, designed by Mina Kwon.
His i am OTHER artist Leah LaBelle saluted her mentor. “This man means so much to me. he made my dreams come true. i dreamed this 8 years ago. this is a true moment & my heart is so happy. happy birthday to the best mentor & big brother ever,” she wrote.
One famous fan who couldn’t make it was Tyler, the Creator. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE COOLEST HUMAN TO EVER EXIST. WITHOUT YOU I WOULDNT BE WHERE I AM TODAY, ENJOY IT DUDE! FOREVER STAR TRAK,” tweeted the Odd Future rapper.

Nardwuar has interviewed everyone from Jay-Z to Lady Gaga, and now Pharrell turns the tables on the Canadian journalist. The Neptunes producer and his team of researchers dig into the Human Serviette’s past, presenting him with several gifts including a bow tie made of cheese, an iPhone case with Vancouver’s Lions Gate Bridge, and the 1969 book The Peter Principle.
The i am OTHER founder also gives him the sheet music for “Here’s a Ho! Vancouver,” which Pharrell credits for starting the ratchet movement. Pharrell teaches him how to sing the “ho” ad-libs, and Narduar tries to replicate it, which gets a laugh out of P.
He also gifts him with ancient Nard oil and rolls out a poster of Nardwuar’s dream girl Heather Locklear. “You better get the lotion ready for this one,” jokes Pharrell, while saluting his investigative skills.
“I think you are a genius freak of nature when it comes to music and it comes to history,” says Pharrell. “Whoever you have doing research needs to consider a job for the CIA.”
If you thought the original video for Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” was hot, wait until you see the explicit edit. The unrated clip features more slick moves from Thicke, T.I., and Pharrell, plus plenty of female nudity. The models drop their tops and strut around nearly naked as the fashionable fellas try to contain their excitement.
The heatwave continues this summer with the release of Thicke’s sixth album.

Pharrell went one-on-one with his i am OTHER partner Nardwuar during his visit to SXSW. The quirky Canadian brought up all sorts of obscure facts from The Neptunes producer’s past and presented him with gifts including an Isley Brothers vinyl.
Pharrell, who refrains from smoking and drugs, recalled falling asleep on the toilet after eating six weed brownies and the trippy effects it had on him. “Because of this experience, I do not like brownies in any way, shape, or form,” he said.
He also discussed how Teddy Riley changed his life, breaking his arm, and being in the group SBI (Surrounded By Idiots) with Timbaland and Magoo.
At the end, Pharrell turns the tables on Nardwuar, but you’ll have to wait to see that interview.
Robin Thicke turns on the charm in the slick video for his new single “Blurred Lines” featuring T.I. and Pharrell. The dapper gentlemen ooze sex appeal as they flirt with models in the chic clip, which features strange props including sausages, dice, and even a lamb. But its Tip who steals the show with his dance moves and hair brushing.
The Pharrell-produced song is set to appear on Thicke’s upcoming sixth album.
BET and ASCAP teamed up to celebrate music’s fresh faces at the “BET Music Matters Showcase” during SXSW in Austin, Texas, on Thursday. T.I. headlined the concert, which featured performances from some of today’s rising stars including ScHoolboy Q, Bridget Kelly, BJ the Chicago Kid, Lecrae, and Joey Bada$$.
Chrisette Michele hit the stage to perform new material off her upcoming album Better. The evening capped off with a performance from Tip. In addition to staging his biggest hits, he brought out some special guests including Trae Tha Truth, Kendrick Lamar for “Memories Back Then,” and Pharrell, who danced onstage during “What You Know.”
Backstage, the King held court with his wife Tiny and pals including Usher and Pharrell.
Robin Thicke has been moonlighting in acting on BET’s “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” but he hasn’t abandoned music. The R&B crooner is readying a new single called “Blurred Lines” featuring T.I. and Pharrell.
The song will be released to iTunes on March 26, while a trailer for the video will debut before “Real Husbands” on Tuesday, March 19.
Thicke has been working on his sixth album, the follow-up to 2011’s Love After War. He recently celebrated his 36th birthday with parties in New York and Los Angeles.
