Pusha T

G.O.O.D. Music joins forces with MMG in the powerful video for “Hold On.” Pusha T and Rick Ross provide hope for the streets in the motivational clip, which was shot by DRE Films in Hollywood, Florida. The rappers speak directly to young men in their community while reflecting on their drug dealing past.

“The concept of ‘Hold On’ is me and Ross performing in front of some neighborhood guys, lecturing and basically telling the people of the neighborhood—our peers, essentially—that we’re here for them and we’re doing this for them,” King Push told MTV News.

The Kanye West and Hudson Mohawke production appears on Pusha’s debut My Name Is My Name.

Hear them share street stories in the moving visuals.

Video: Pusha T f/ Future – ‘Pain’

Pusha T

Pusha T keeps dropping dope visuals. After visiting Compton with Kendrick Lamar in “Nosetalgia” and hitting the beach with Chris Brown in “Sweet Serenade,” the Virginia MC brings the “Pain” in his latest video featuring Future.

The artsy black-and-white clip carries on the minimalistic theme found in his album packaging and visuals, with powerful imagery of police brutality, civil rights demonstrations, and Trayvon Martin’s fateful trip to a convenience store.

His critically-acclaimed debut My Name Is My Name is expected to sell 70-75,000 copies in its first week.

All hail King Push.

Rap-Up TV: Pusha T Explains Why He Has the Album of the Year

Pusha T has declared My Name Is My Name the best rap album of the year, and hip-hop fans will get to decide for themselves when his solo debut arrives in stores and online today. During his interview with Rap-Up TV, the G.O.O.D. Music MC backed up his lofty claim.

“Lyrically, My Name Is My Name is untouchable,” said a confident Pusha. “Production-wise, it is definitely the best produced album of the year by far. Ultimately, it’s the only album to me that really restores the feeling of hip-hop. I think everything else is easy listening. I feel like mine really makes you put an ‘S’ on your chest and calls for a course of action. It’s music you can front to, like LL [Cool J] would have said back then.”

In addition to “Sweet Serenade” featuring Chris Brown and the Kendrick Lamar-assisted “Nosetalgia,” the album features Rick Ross, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Kelly Rowland, and The-Dream.

“It’s car music,” explained Pusha. “It’s roll down all the windows in your car and ride past the club three times before you get out so everybody knows what you listening to ’cause that music describes you and it makes you feel like something. I feel like that’s a win for me.”

Video: Pusha T f/ Chris Brown – ‘Sweet Serenade’

Pusha T

Pusha T turns the beach into a strip club in the seductive video for “Sweet Serenade” featuring Chris Brown. On the eve of the release of his debut My Name Is My Name, the G.O.O.D. Music rapper delivers the Colin Tilley-directed clip, which he shot in Malibu at night. He lights a bonfire and toasts to the good life as bikini-clad babes perform in the sand, which comes complete with stripper poles.

“‘Sweet Serenade,’ it doesn’t sound really sweet, it’s pretty dark, so to capture that, we came and shot on the beach at nighttime,” Pusha told MTV News. “It gives it that eery feel, but still soothing.”

He praised his collaborator. “Chris has an edge to him that’s very real,” said Pusha. “He’s a real person, he goes through real situations and I just respect him a lot. I asked him to be on the record and he was 100 percent down with it.”

In addition to Brown, MNIMN features Kendrick Lamar, Kelly Rowland, 2 Chainz, Big Sean, and more. “It’s definitely going to be the hip-hop album of the year,” he declared.

Pusha T Talks Kendrick Lamar, Kanye’s Rant, & Kanye vs. Kimmel

Unlike some of his peers, Pusha T was not offended when he heard his name called out on Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse. Instead of firing back, the G.O.O.D. Music MC applauded Kendrick and even joined forces with him on “Nosetalgia.”

“Kendrick is an artist who I would classify as the new generation,” said Pusha of the Compton MC. “He’s like the voice of the new generation, I believe.”

During his listening party in New York, Kanye West got on the mic to deliver his now famous “Everything Is Pusha T” rant, which even caught Pusha off guard.

“I didn’t know where that was gonna go, but I was just hoping that everybody taped it and they did,” he told Rap-Up TV. “He went on one of his rants. We speak candidly about our perception of the culture and where it is and what we’ve started, what we’ve been innovators of, and what trends we’ve set. I didn’t know he was ready to share that with everybody else.”

When Kanye called out Jimmy Kimmel for spoofing his BBC interview, it was just Kanye being Kanye, said Pusha, who jumped to his defense.

“People just really need to understand that he’s really no nonsense,” explained Pusha. “He’s very passionate about everything he’s telling to the people. Nine times out of 10, he’s enlightening you or showing you the way. I feel like when someone makes light of it, he may take it to heart. I’m Team Kanye. I don’t really care about the other guy.”
