D. Woods rocks with her sister Shanell on “Foolish Dreamer,” a cut off the former Danity Kane member’s EP The Gray Area, available now on iTunes. “My head’s in the clouds, I’m a foolish dreamer,” sing the siblings on the guitar-laced track, which also features rapper Kyle Lucas.
Shanell flips Lil Wayne’s “How to Love” with a sultry version for the ladies. “But I admire your bottle poppin’ and tippin’ just as much as you admire late night and trickin’,” coos the Young Money singer-songwriter, who will hit the road with Weezy on the second leg of his “I Am Still Music” tour next month. She is prepping her debut album and will release a video for the single “My Button” in the coming weeks.
Shanell may have made listeners blush with her sensual single “My Button,” but the Young Money singer-songwriter is toning things down with the accompanying music video.
Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj weren’t the only Young Money stars rocking the stage on the “I Am Still Music” tour. The crew’s singer-songwriter Shanell also got her moment in the spotlight, emerging from the smoke to deliver her new single “My Button” at L.A.’s Staples Center. She later stripped down into a leopard leotard to perform “Hair Down My Back,” whipping her long hair around as she pranced across the stage. Watch Miss Shanell work it out.
After getting treated to a lap dance from Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne got some lovin’ from another one of Young Money’s leading ladies. Weezy and singer-songwriter Shanell steamed up the stage while performing “Lollipop” and “Prom Queen” on the “I Am Music II” tour stop’s second night at Long Island’s Nassau Coliseum. The hip-hop martian rocked out wearing a Famous Stars and Straps T-shirt that read “Travis Mutha Fuckin’ Barker” in honor of his tourmate Travis Barker.
“It was a lot of fun. There were a lot of packs of gum backstage,” Shanell previously told Rap-Up TV about kissing Weezy onstage during their first tour.
Young Money’s Shanell hits the streets of Atlanta in the DIY video for her remix to Simian Mobile Disco’s “It’s the Beat” from her mixtape Shut Up N Listen. The singer-songwriter rocks out to her iPod as she struts down the street, stopping at the UPS Store to send a letter to her YM cohort Lil Wayne, working out at the gym, and capping the day by dancing to the electro-tinged tune at a party.
SnL is planning to direct a video for her Nicki Minaj-assisted single “Cupid’s Got a Gun” and readying a second mixtape for release later this year.
The Cash Money-Young Money crew pulled up in their tour bus to the BMI Urban Music Awards to accept an award on behalf of their incarcerated brother Lil Wayne. Before they headed inside, they spoke with Rap-Up TV on the red carpet. Birdman, Shanell, and Mack Maine told us what to expect from the “Welcome Home Weezy” concert on Nov. 5, the day after Wayne is expected to be released from jail. “It’s gonna be a movie,” said YM president Mack Maine. “I expect it to be big, like not just New York residents. I think people [will] probably fly [in] from all over the world.”
While I Am Not a Human Being drops on Wayne’s birthday, Tha Carter IV may not arrive in November after all. “Maybe, maybe not. We don’t know yet,” revealed Baby, who also spoke about the next player to bat, Nicki Minaj, and her debut album Pink Friday. “We ain’t never had a woman looked upon like that,” he said of Young Money’s First Lady.
And if you thought Drake’s sophomore album was dropping this year, think again. “It could be the end of this year, but realistically I really said that it will be within a year from his last release,” said Mack. But is a Thank Me Later re-release in the works?
