In addition to Kelly Rowland, The-Dream calls on another one of Destiny’s children for his album IV Play. On “Turnt,” Beyoncé taps into her ratchet side as she trades provocative lines with the “Single Ladies” hitmaker.
“People think I’m crazy, but I love you cuz you crazy too,” sings B, while proclaiming, “Turn up!”
And what would a ratchet record be without 2 Chainz? Tity Boi adds a verse about drinking his lady’s bathwater and umm, satisfying her (“I kill that thang, whoa manslaughter”).
The-Dream’s entire album, featuring Jay-Z, Big Sean, Pusha T, Gary Clark Jr., and more, is now available to stream on YouTube ahead of its May 28 release.
The-Dream and Kelly Rowland gave fans a peek into their upcoming “Lights Out” tour by performing together on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on Monday. The platinum hitmaker and new “X Factor” judge dueted on “Where Have You Been,” their tender collaboration off Dream’s album IV Play, due May 28.
“K.Row….. Thank You from Me and the Lovecult for being here for me Today! Jay Leno… I appreciate it soooo much. I LOVE you!” Dream told Kelly after the performance.
Watch their first televised set before the tour kicks off on May 23.
The-Dream and Kelly Rowland are proving to be a dynamic duo. After their much-talked-about collaboration “Dirty Laundry,” which Dream penned, the two duet on “Where Have You Been” off Dream’s album IV Play.
The singer-songwriter finds true love on the tender ballad, which he will perform with Kelly this evening on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”
“Just a signature R&B duet record, no games, no nothing, straight down the middle,” The-Dream tells Rap-Up.com of the record, which he co-produced with Da Internz. “It was a chance for me to bond with another friend now that I have, which is Kelly.”
In addition to Kelly, IV Play features Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Big Sean, Pusha T, Gary Clark Jr., and more.
Fabolous and Pusha T’s “The Life Is So Exciting” tour rolled through L.A.’s Club Nokia on Friday night with some special guests. Following Pusha’s set, Loso brought out Cassie and Trey Songz for the remix to “Diced Pineapples,” which appears on his mixtape Soul Tape 2. He was later joined onstage by The-Dream for “Throw It in the Bag” and the remix.
He explained the true meaning of the song. “‘Throw It in the Bag’ wasn’t about trickin’ on no hos. Fuck them hos,” said the Brooklyn MC. “It was about making sure you take care of your lady. If that’s your lady, make sure you take care of her ’cause I promise you if you won’t, somebody else will.”
The-Dream delivers some visual stimulation in the X-directed video for “IV Play,” the title track off his upcoming album. The platinum hitmaker emerges from a helicopter in a black fur coat with a sexy lady on his arm and performs against the backdrop of an architectural building. He later gets a front row seat from his white Mercedes SL while his scantily-clad co-stars put on a show.
IV Play is due May 28 featuring Jay-Z, Beyoncé, 2 Chainz, Kelly Rowland, Big Sean, Pusha T, and more.
“IV Play is me jumping into the future and trying to leave the past behind,” The-Dream told VEVO. “This album probably maintains about 25 percent of the fabric of what I’ve done musically, but the rest of it, I’ve really opened it up.”
The-Dream assembles a dream team of collaborators for his fifth album IV Play, arriving May 28. The standard edition includes 14 tracks, while the deluxe adds four.
The follow-up to 2012′s Terius Nash: 1977 includes collaborations with Jay-Z (“High Art”), Beyoncé and 2 Chainz (“Turnt”), Big Sean and Pusha T (“Pussy”), Kelly Rowland (“Where Have You Been”), Gary Clark Jr. (“Too Early”), and Fabolous (“Slow It Down”).
In support of the album, The-Dream will hit the road with Kelly Rowland on the “Lights Out” tour, beginning May 23 in Minneapolis.
First he told us to “Slow It Down,” and now The-Dream wants to turn up on “High Art,” a collaboration with Jay-Z off his upcoming album IV Play. The Grammy-winning hitmaker scores a verse from Mr. Carter on the bouncy banger.
“High Art Just a Fuckin Real Fun Energetic Summer Song!!!!!!!!!!!” tweeted Dream, who has also been working on Jay’s upcoming album with Timbaland.
“I make love to my girl and I get high with my ni**as,” sings The-Dream on the catchy hook, while Jay burns up the track and shouts out his wife (“I’m back home to my BB”).
Due May 28, IV Play is set to feature collaborations with Beyoncé and 2 Chainz (“Turnt”), Kelly Rowland (“Where Have You Been”), Big Sean and Pusha T (“Pussy!”), Mary J. Blige (“Divine”), and more.
