Rap-Up TV: TLC Talks Lady Gaga Collaboration ‘Posh Life’

TLC revisited their 20-year legacy with the VH1 movie CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story and album 20. Now the best-selling female group is looking toward the future with the release of an all-new album.

One of the songs they recorded for the 2014 release is “Posh Life,” co-written by Dallas Austin and Lady Gaga. During an interview with Rap-Up TV, T-Boz and Chilli spoke about collaborating with the pop superstar.

“She actually wrote that with Dallas for her album,” said Chilli. “She told him that she wanted a song that was formatted just like TLC.”

But she decided not to use the song on ARTPOP. “She said it was too TLC. She didn’t want to offend us ’cause she was such a fan,” added T-Boz.

So under the guidance of Austin, TLC went to the studio and recorded the track before playing it for Gaga herself. “She was so excited,” said T-Boz. “She wants to be involved, but we’re trying to see if we can work that out, record company to record company.”

While in the studio, T-Boz also had a chance to hear some of Gaga’s ARTPOP. “Bananas!” she said. “She has this song with T.I. ['Jewels N' Drugs'] that’s so bomb. I was like floored, I loved it. She’s coming with some stuff, that’s all I’m sayin’.”

T-Boz and Chilli

TLC paid a visit to “The Wendy Williams Show” on Thursday while promoting their VH1 movie CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story. Executive producers T-Boz and Chilli discussed everything from casting the biopic to their new album to their relationship with former manager Pebbles.

However, Pebbles is considering legal action. “I think she’ll probably wanna sue us,” said T-Boz.

Wendy raved about the movie, giving it “10s across the board.”

TLC Performs on ‘GMA’ and Visits ‘The Breakfast Club’

With their compilation 20 in stores today, TLC kicked off their release week with a performance on the “Good Morning America” Fall Concert Series.

T-Boz and Chilli staged a dance-heavy medley of their hits including “What About Your Friends,” “Waterfalls,” and “No Scrubs.” They were also joined by the stars of VH1′s CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story—Lil Mama, Keke Palmer, and Drew Sidora.

“It’s just like a dream come true,” said T-Boz of seeing their lives play out on screen.

The best-selling female R&B group of all time also stopped by Power 105.1′s “The Breakfast Club,” where they defended Lil Mama, who crashed Jay Z and Alicia Keys’ performance at the 2009 VMAs.

“She didn’t do a Kanye West. She didn’t go up there and snatch a mic and be disrespectful,” said Chilli, who cast the 24-year-old to play Left Eye. “She was just standing on stage. Who cares? Get over it.”

Once the movie premieres on Oct. 21, she thinks people will look at her differently. “When this film comes out, people are gonna say different things.”
