Brick Squad and Odd Future unite on “I’ma Hata,” their much-hyped collaboration off DJ Drama’s upcoming album Quality Street Music (Oct. 2). Waka Flocka Flame and Tyler, the Creator channel their haters, spewing venom at those whose success they envy.
“Yeah, I’m a hata/ F**k your wrist… f**k your car … f**k your money … f**k your life … f**k your clique,” raps Waka, while the OF leader spits a spiteful verse.
“It’s a banger,” Drama told Rap-Up TV. “Just that collaboration in itself is gonna excite a lot of people ’cause those are two very big personalities in hip-hop, so [having them] on one record is pretty amazing.”
Three months after releasing his sophomore album Triple F Life: Fans, Friends & Family, Waka Flocka Flame keeps the fire burning with his free mixtape Salute Me or Shoot Me 4 (Banned from America). Hosted by Trap-A-Holics and DJ Holiday, the fourth installment in his Salute Me or Shoot Me series features 15 tracks, with appearances from Gucci Mane, Wale, Roscoe Dash, Shawty Lo, Chief Keef, and more. He has dedicated the project to one of his fans, who recently passed away. Download/stream below.
Gucci Mane represents for ATL in the video for his remix to “Plain Jane” off his mixtape I’m Up. The Brick Squad captain stays posted alongside T.I. and Rocko while scoping out some sexy ladies and driving some luxury whips. His protégé Waka Flocka Flame also makes an appearance in the nighttime visuals.
Waka Flocka Flame brings together his friends Nicki Minaj, Tyga, and Flo Rida in the video for “Get Low,” the latest single off his sophomore album Triple F Life: Fans, Friends & Family. The Benny Boom-directed clip was shot on a soundstage in Atlanta. The Brick Squad rapper cleans up in a white tuxedo, while Nicki dons a curly blonde wig and gold bustier.
“The concept for the video was a red, white, and black color scheme, and a lot of art,” Waka told MTV News. “I wanted to bring hip-hop videos back—choreographing and girls dancing in it. There’s too [many] naked women dancing in videos scenes to me. I feel like I wanna put the art back into it. I feel like it’s my job to put the art and the fun back into the music.”
Nicki was more than willing to lend a hand. “Waka Flocka, he’s my brother,” said the Young Money diva. “People know that I go way back with him, and whatever he needs me to do, it gets done. He called me, he sent me a song, I said, ‘It’s nothing.’ I was finishing up my album, and I said, ‘You know I got you, it’s nothing.’”
On September 13, Waka will release his mixtape Salute Me or Shoot Me Vol. 4 featuring Tyler, the Creator, Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, Chief Keef, and more.
While Lil Wayne puts the finishing touches on Dedication 4, the mixtape’s host DJ Drama has been focused on his own album, Quality Street Music. Due September 25, the 12 “monstrous” cuts boast appearances from Drake, Wale, Wiz Khalifa, Rick Ross, T.I., Common, Kendrick Lamar, Tyga, and more, with production from Hit-Boy, T-Minus, Cardiak, Boi-1da, Jahlil Beats, DJ Mustard, and Kane Beatz.
Fresh off shooting a video for his single “My Moment” in Toronto with Meek Mill, 2 Chainz, and Jeremih, the Gangsta Grillz creator spoke about one of the collabos in particular with Tyler, the Creator and Waka Flocka Flame.
“It’s a banger,” he told Rap-Up TV. “Just that collaboration in itself is gonna excite a lot of people ’cause those are two very big personalities in hip-hop, so [having them] on one record is pretty amazing.”
Another unexpected feature comes from Kevin Hart aka Chocolate Drop. “I think people are gonna be surprised by his bars. He gives some really incredible bars. 79 of ‘em,” said Drama of the comedian’s rap alter ego.
Waka Flocka Flame puts the remix to “Rooster in My Rari” in overdrive with Gucci Mane and 2 Chainz. The Brick Squad rapper’s mentor shouts out his jeweler and 2 Chainz references his tourmate Nicki Minaj (“Beez in the trap, I put my ding-a-ling on Barbie”). The DJ Spinz-produced remix will appear on Waka’s DJ Holiday-hosted mixtape, Salute Me or Shoot Me 4.
Following his run on Drake’s “Club Paradise” tour with 2 Chainz, J. Cole, Meek Mill, and French Montana earlier this spring, Waka Flocka Flame will embark on his “Triple F Life: Friends, Fans, & Family” tour. The nationwide trek kicks off October 2 in Norfolk and continues through November, with stops in New York, L.A., Boston, Seattle, New Orleans, and more.
Only two months after dropping his sophomore album Triple F Life: Friends, Fans, & Family, the Atlanta rapper is gearing up for the release of his DJ Holiday-hosted mixtape, Salute Me or Shoot Me 4. The follow-up to his 2011 tape includes appearances from Tyler, the Creator, Chief Keef, and Shawty Lo, plus the remix to his single “Rooster in My Rari” with Gucci Mane and 2 Chainz.
