Wale delivered an explosive set on Wednesday’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.” With some help from The Roots and a suspenders-sporting Miguel, the bespectacled MC performed his Ambition single “Lotus Flower Bomb.”

Wale’s year is already off to a busy start. He has been in the studio with Teyana Taylor (“Make Your Move”) and most recently recorded with Monica for her upcoming album New Life, due March 6. Look out for the Chris Brown-directed video for “Slight Work” featuring Big Sean.

He may be filling baby bottles at home these days, but Jay-Z was back to popping bottles of Ace of Spades on Wednesday night (Jan. 18). The Roc Nation boss snuck out for his first public appearance since becoming a father at the grand reopening of his 40/40 nightclub in New York City.

Ashanti, Wale, Swizz Beatz, Rico Love, ?uestlove, Adrienne Bailon, Grandmaster Flash, Selita Ebanks, Irv Gotti, and Fabolous were among the VIP guests who came out to celebrate with Mr. Carter. A crowd gathered outside the venue to congratulate Blue Ivy Carter’s dad, who responded, “Thank you!”

Even billionaire Warren Buffett, who shared the cover of Forbes with the hip-hop mogul, was seen throwing up the Roc. But despite rumors of an appearance, new mom Beyoncé was a no-show, opting to stay at home with their newborn daughter while her husband walked the red carpet and greeted well-wishers.

Teyana Taylor is making moves in 2012. The singer-actress gets a jumpstart on the new year by cooking up a collabo with Wale. The feel-good record features an intro verse from the Maybach Music signee, before a lovestruck Teyana soars over the soulful melody.

Bei Maejor cooks up more “Trouble” on the remix to the first single off his forthcoming RCA Records debut. The singer-songwriter recruits Wale, Trey Songz, and T-Pain for the all-star remix, which features J. Cole’s original verse. During his appearance on “106 & Park,” the 24-year-old hinted that there would be an additional guest, but he’s missing from this version.

It was all love on set of Wale’s video for “Slight Work,” his Diplo-produced collaboration with Big Sean off Ambition. The rappers took instructions from their pal Chris Brown, who was in the director’s chair. MTV News caught up with the trio on set in Los Angeles earlier this week.

“Man, this video’s just fun,” explained Chris as he flashed his grill. “We’re young so I think it’s only right to just do what we wanna do.”

A fur-wearing Big Sean chimed in. “Man, we just having fun. You don’t understand, man, we was just them young players looking at the OGs like, ‘Damn, that’s where we’re trying to be.’”

The video is set to debut at the top of next year. “They gave us a budget now, so we can just play around and have fun on set,” added Breezy.

Chris Brown is stepping behind the camera. The R&B superstar will direct the video for Wale and Big Sean’s collaboration “Slight Work.”

The 22-year-old singer took to Twitter to announce that he will co-direct the clip with Godfrey Tabarez. “I’m directing @Wale and @BigSean slight work video this week! Gonna be a Movie! Fuck wit me!!” he wrote.

The video is scheduled to shoot this week in Los Angeles. The Diplo-produced song appears on Wale’s sophomore album Ambition.

This is not the first time Chris has collaborated with the rappers. He appeared on the remix to Wale’s “Pretty Girls” and guested on Big Sean’s hit “My Last.”

Breezy will cap off 2011 by hosting a New Year’s Eve celebration at PURE Nightclub at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, with tickets priced at $150 each.
