Lil’ Kim, Missy Elliott, & Da Brat Bring ‘Ladies Night’ to Soul Train Awards

It was ladies’ night at the Soul Train Awards 2014. Lil’ Kim, Missy Elliott, and Da Brat hit the stage for the first time in 17 years to perform their 1996 platinum single “Not Tonight (Remix)” during Sunday’s pre-taped show.

Eric Benét kicked things off by singing the original song before Kim emerged with her female dancers. They paid tribute to the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes before Da Brat bumrushed the stage followed by Missy, who was greeted with roaring cheers from the crowd.

During the finale, they were joined on stage by their fellow females including Total, MC Lyte, The Lady of Rage, and Yo-Yo. Angie Martinez, who was featured on the song, was M.I.A.

The performance was part of a tribute to Kool & the Gang, whose 1979 song “Ladies’ Night” they sampled.

“I want to thank @LilKim @ONLY1BRAT @mclyte @THEOFFICIALRAGE YOYO TOTAL! I GOT ALL MY SISTAS WiTME! #RIP LeftEye we miss u!” tweeted Missy.

Tinashe Performs ‘Pretend’ and ‘2 On’ at Soul Train Awards

Tinashe set the stage on fire with her sizzling set at the Soul Train Awards. The L.A. singer, who was nominated for Best Dance Performance, kicked off her performance with “Pretend” and then showed out with some killer moves while singing her DJ Mustard-produced smash “2 On.”

Tinashe will embark on her “Aquarius Tour” on December 5 at Power 106′s Cali Christmas.

Jodeci Reunites at Soul Train Awards

They’re back! After over a decade, Jodeci reunited to perform a nostalgic medley at Sunday’s Soul Train Awards 2014. DeVante Swing, Joel “JoJo” Hailey, Cedric “K-Ci” Hailey, and Dalvin DeGrate thrilled the crowd with their greatest hits including “Freek’n You,” “Come & Talk to Me,” “Stay,” and “Forever My Lady.” With some help from B.o.B., the North Carolina quartet also debuted its new single “Nobody Wins.”

The song will go to radio next month, while the group is working on its first album in nearly 20 years with producers including Timbaland. They also plan to tour next year with a couple other artists.

“It will be the biggest R&B tour in music!” Dalvin told fans in a Facebook chat.

There was peace, love, and Breezy at the Soul Train Awards 2014. Nearly a decade after first dazzling the Soul Train audience, Chris Brown returned with an electrifying performance during Sunday’s two-hour show, which was taped earlier this month at Las Vegas’ Orleans Arena.

The R&B superstar served up a dance-heavy medley of old and new hits including “Yo (Excuse Me Miss),” “Poppin’,” “Take You Down,” “New Flame,” and “Loyal.”

He also went home with the awards for Best Collaboration and Best Hip-Hop Song of the Year for “Loyal.”

Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea closed out the American Music Awards with a mesmerizing performance of “Booty.” The ladies had the censors on high alert as they staged the remix to the rump shaker. J.Lo flaunted her assets in a sexy black-and-white leotard before meeting up with Iggy for some booty-on-booty action. Iggy smacked J.Lo’s ass while both ladies twerked in front of the projection screen.

After a quick change, J.Lo performed what Shazam calls her new song “Throw Your Hair Back.”

“Say ladies, come on lose control / Let it out / Throw your hair back on the floor,” she commanded.
