Nicki Minaj stole the spotlight in a blue-and-blonde wig, floral bra, flowy skirt, and ruffled green jacket as she announced the nominations for the 2011 American Music Awards at the JW Marriott in downtown Los Angeles today. Hip-hop’s leading lady presented the categories with Pitbull and scored her first nominations for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album for her debut Pink Friday.

“Very excited to be nominated for the AMA’s! Congratulations to all the nominees! Tune in Nov 20th barbz!” tweeted Nicki.

The 39th annual show will air live from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE on Sunday, November 20.

Rihanna may have missed Katy Perry’s wedding in India, but that hasn’t hurt their friendship. The BFFs caught up at Sunday’s American Music Awards at the NOKIA Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. Justin Bieber took home the coveted Artist of the Year trophy at Sunday’s American Music Awards and invited his mentor Usher on stage to share in the unforgettable moment.

“I got this opportunity really about a year-and-a-half ago and really was embraced by a man named Usher Raymond,” said the 16-year-old phenom. “I feel like he’s had such an amazing career and it would be only right if I invite him up to share it with me—not only my mentor, but my best friend and my big brother. I love you, man.”

The two embraced before Ursh tried to mess up the Biebs perfectly coiffed hair. Aww, how sweet.
