The entertainment won’t only be on stage at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. If the seating arrangements are any indication, the audience interaction may also provide for some interesting moments. MTV gives us a sneak peek at where your favorite artists will be seated during the big show.

After Rihanna opens the awards with A$AP Rocky and Calvin Harris, she will grab a seat next to her BFF Katy Perry. The “Wide Awake” singer will be in arm’s length from five-time nominee Drake, while Frank Ocean sits two rows behind Rihanna and next to Green Day. Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne score front row tickets alongside Taylor Swift, who is seated beside Alicia Keys. Meanwhile, 2 Chainz occupies the seat behind fellow performer Pink.

Alicia Keys is ready for her big comeback. The Grammy-winning songstress warmed up for her much-anticipated performance at the 2012 MTV VMAs on Wednesday. She will perform “Girl on Fire,” the first single off her upcoming album of the same name, live for the first time. It is rumored that she will be joined by Nicki Minaj, who appears on the Inferno version of the song.

Her son Egypt accompanied her to rehearsals at the Staples Center in L.A. “I have a feeling were not gonna be able to keep him off the stage!!!!” tweeted Alicia, who will be seated in front of Wiz Khalifa and Tyga and alongside Taylor Swift.

Lil Wayne traded in his TRUKFIT tee for one of Odd Future’s Golf Wang shirts while rehearsing for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards at the Staples Center in L.A. on Tuesday. The skateboarding rapper will perform “No Worries,” the second single off his upcoming album I Am Not a Human Being II, live for the first time at Thursday’s show.

Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas was most excited to see Weezy. “I’ve always listened to him,” she told MTV News. “He puts together these amazing lyrics and he’s just awesome.”

First-time performer 2 Chainz will also hit the stage, while other performers include Alicia Keys, Nicki Minaj, Frank Ocean, Pink, Taylor Swift, and Rihanna, who will open the show with A$AP Rocky and Calvin Harris.

On September 6, Alicia Keys is set to blaze the stage at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, where she will debut her new single “Girl on Fire.” A snippet of the powerful and infectious song can be heard in a promo for the show, which airs live from L.A.’s Staples Center at 8 p.m. EST.

“Girl on Fire” goes to iTunes and radio on Tuesday, and will appear on Alicia’s upcoming album of the same name, due November 27.

“My hands are on the keys. Tonight you will feel the power of my voice. Watch me reveal what’s within. I’ll show you everything. This is the moment,” says Alicia as she sits at the piano and performs.
