Hey Guys! I’m getting ready for the show tonight in Chicago—it’s going to be awesome!! I’m picking out what to wear now, and wanted to give you an idea of what I’m working with. I have a bunch of different performance outfits that I like to switch up every night; my favorite pieces are the ones I can mix & match. For instance I’ll throw on shiny disco pants with a corset top, or a mini dress with thigh-high boots…then maybe pair the boots with the disco pants on another night. But I can’t forget the final touch: dressing these looks up with big accessories, like bangles, rings, or multiple long chains. Anything that will help me shine on stage completes the look! You may have heard her powerful voice when she fills in for Alicia Keys on Jay-Z’s New York anthem “Empire State of Mind.” Now Bridget Kelly is making a name for herself as the First Lady of Roc Nation.

The R&B songstress, who can currently be seen rocking arenas nationwide with her label boss, is sharing her “BP3” tour diaries exclusively with Rap-Up.com. In her first entry, Bridget reveals what items she can’t live without on the road and indulges in her “favorite food ever.”

BRIDGET KELLY’S TOUR DIARY #1

Finally an off day. Not one, but THREE!!!! We got into Boston on Monday and I immediately hit Legal Sea Food for some lobster (my favorite food ever!). After performing for six straight days, I definitely needed some R&R, so I treated myself to a facial, copped some kicks, went bowling & clubbing with the ROC boys, and had dinner with my New England fam….so much for R&R. LOL. But I am relaxed, recharged, and ready to hit TD Garden and ROC with that “Beantown” energy.

One thing is for sure, life on the road can be long and boring, but I’m good as long as I have:

1. A dope pair of headphones – Some big ones to tune everything out.
2. My BlackBerry – My link to the world!
3. My passport – In case London calls…lol!
4. A couple pairs of shades – My future is looking pretty bright.
5. Flatiron – To keep the mane in tact.
6. St. Tropez bronzer – To keep the skin glowing.

Nina Sky takes to the stage at a radio show in Long Island, New York, to perform “On Some Bull…” and their new single “Beautiful People,” but the best moments happen off stage when Nicole and Natalie pause for a hilarious dance break that includes the robot, salsa, and “Single Ladies” routine. Nina Sky has been in the studio, feverishly reworking their sophomore album. The project has a new name, Starting Today (formerly The Musical), and a fall release date.

Natalie and Nicole came out from their studio coma to perform at Diplo and Switch’s Major Lazer show at S.O.B.’s in New York City last weekend. Tag along with them below.

TOOMP TALK #1

My name is Aldrin “DJ Toomp” Davis and I’m a music producer from the ATL. For those of you who may or may not know who I am or what I do, I am sure you’re familiar with a lot of the music I’ve produced.

First of all, let me say that this is going to be an exciting opportunity for me to be able to communicate directly with the world through this blog because I like being able to talk with my fans and will hopefully gain some new ones. Over the years, I’ve been blessed to go on tour or be in the studio with Luke and 2 Live Crew, Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Missy Elliott, Lil Jon & the Eastside Boyz, Glasses Malone, Young Jeezy, Mariah Carey, and of course, T.I. and Kanye West, who I have had the pleasure of grinding with and taking home Grammys with.

I won a Grammy in 2007 for “What You Know” from T.I.’s King album and it was just last year that “Good Life” by Kanye West featuring T-Pain won off ’Ye’s Graduation album. It’s an amazing feeling just to be nominated, but to actually take home one of those awards, which in my opinion is one of the highest honors in music, is one of the best feelings in life. I would’ve never thought that all that time I spent beating on pots and pans as a kid and then making and selling mixtapes in high school would lead me to win Grammys.

It’s definitely been a long, long journey but I wouldn’t change any of my experiences because I’ve learned a lot about myself and the business. I’ve been in this game for almost 20 years, but I’ve always had faith in my talent and have stayed grounded.

There was definitely a lot to talk about at the 2009 Grammy Awards and although I was in L.A., I decided to sit this one out. I’m trying to add a few more Grammys to my collection and have been trying to stay focused on my music. My predictions for the awards were pretty much on point and I thought everybody that was nominated and won deserved it.

Of course I was hoping that T.I.P. would’ve brought home a few more awards, especially for Best Rap Album because he really came from the heart. But T.I.’s such a talented artist that he’ll be bringing home some Grammy gold again soon. I’m gonna be posted out here in L.A. a few more days to work on some new music; I will keep you up-to-date through this blog. I’m signing off for now, but will be back in the same place in a couple of weeks. Until then, stay grinding.
