2 Chainz Lights Up Coachella with Fall Out Boy and Major Lazer

After making his debut last weekend, 2 Chainz returned to the desert for Coachella. He lit up the stage with a smoking set that included a giant joint in honor of 4/20 and special guests Fall Out Boy.

Wearing a Tupac T-shirt and sparkly glove, the rapper formerly known as Tity Boi rocked with Pete Wentz and the band on the remix to their song “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up).”

He later came out as the surprise guest during Major Lazer’s set at the Mojave Tent. After changing into Jeremy Scott track pants, he joined Diplo and the group on “Bubble Butt” off Major Lazer’s new album Free the Universe.

His busy day ended with a trip to the studio to work on his sophomore album. “Jus got to work and no I’m not sleepy, see u guys in the morning,” tweeted 2 Chainz.

Coachella Roundup: Kelly Rowland, Eve, Rita Ora, Tyler, the Creator, R. Kelly, JoJo, Solange, 2 Chainz

The stars once again flocked to the desert for Coachella over the weekend. Kelly Rowland hosted the Hard Rock Music Lounge Women Who Rock event, which featured a performance from Leah LaBelle. Pharrell’s protégé was joined by her friend JoJo, who played DJ during her set.

Eve heat up the stage at the Nylon x BOSS Orange Escape House, Santigold rocked the H&M Loves Music bash at the Merv Griffin estate, and Rita Ora and 2 Chainz entertained the VIP crowd after hours at Jeremy Scott’s annual event at Frank Sinatra’s old house.

There were also plenty of sightings on the field. Kelly Rowland checked out some of the acts with pal Adrienne Bailon, Solange roamed the grounds with Earl Sweatshirt, and Tyler, the Creator met R. Kelly.

“HE SAID HE FUCKS WITH ME AHHHH,” tweeted Tyler.

Solange Performs with The xx at Coachella

Solange wasn’t officially on the bill at Coachella, but she did make a special appearance during The xx’s set on Saturday night. The British band’s frontman Oliver Sim introduced the 26-year-old singer, who performed “Locked in Closets” off her EP True. She sauntered across the stage before dueting with Oliver on Aaliyah’s “Hot Like Fire.”

“Let’s dance!” said Solange as the crowd moved their feet.

John Legend and Benny Benassi Debut ‘Dance the Pain Away’ at Coachella

John Legend ventures outside the R&B realm on “Dance the Pain Away,” his EDM collaboration with Benny Benassi. The G.O.O.D. Music crooner and DJ debuted the record last night at Coachella in Indio, Calif.

Mr. Legend appeared in a red motorcycle jacket and joined the DJ behind the booth as the crowd in the Sahara Tent danced along.

“How can you dance the pain away?” he sings on the melancholy track.

2 Chainz Turns Up the Heat at Coachella

2 Chainz

2 Chainz turned the desert into a strip club while making his Coachella debut. The Atlanta rapper drew a large crowd at the Mohave Tent during his set on Saturday afternoon. Clad in a Givenchy tank, black-and-white leather pants, Gucci sneakers, and flip-up shades, he hit the stage 20 minutes late.

But the boos were silenced once he started delivering his Based on a T.R.U. Story hits including “No Lie,” “Birthday Song,” and “I’m Different.” He won over the sweaty crowd with his verses from Kanye West’s “Mercy” and Nicki Minaj’s “Beez in the Trap.”

“Coachella , Wuzzzz a fukn Movie,” tweeted 2 Chainz, who will do it again next weekend.

R. Kelly Performs with Phoenix at Coachella

You never know who’s going to surprise at Coachella. R. Kelly turned plenty of heads when he appeared during Phoenix’s headlining set on Saturday.

Following a full day of performances from 2 Chainz, Pusha T, and Action Bronson, the R&B icon brought more heat to the desert. He joined the French band on the main stage for a mash-up of his hit “Ignition” and their single “1901.”

“Can get a toot toot, can I get a beep beep?” Kellz asked the sea of festivalgoers, who sang along.

He kept it going with a mix of “I’m a Flirt” and “Chloroform” off Phoenix’s upcoming album, Bankrupt!

Katy Perry tweeted about the surreal moment. “Production value has really gone up at Coochella, it felt like R Kelly was really there! #rkellyhologram,” joked the pop star.

Kellz will also play the Pitchfork Festival and Bonnaroo this summer. Watch footage from his surprise set below.

Earl Sweatshirt Invades Coachella with Tyler, the Creator

Following Frank Ocean last year and Odd Future the year before, Earl Sweatshirt made his Coachella debut on Friday. The 19-year-old rapper delivered a late-night set in the desert, which included his viral singles “Chum” and “Whoa,” plus material from his upcoming album Doris.

Flying Lotus served as his DJ and Tyler, the Creator crashed the stage, climbing the rafters while performing “Tamale” and “Rusty” with Domo.

They exchanged compliments on Twitter. “THEBE DID HIS THANG TONIGHT FUCKING STUPID BITCH,” tweeted Tyler, to which Earl responded, “YOU SMELL LIKE SHIT THANKS.”
