It was far from a silent night at Y100′s Jingle Ball 2009 as Timbaland and Brandy electrified the stage with their Shock Value II collaboration “Meet in tha Middle” at Fort Lauderdale’s Bank Atlantic Center on Saturday (Dec. 12). The holiday concert also featured performances from JoJo, Shakira, Flo Rida, Jordin Sparks, Iyaz, and more.
Usher was all smiles as he introduced his 15-year-old protégé Justin Bieber at Z100′s Jingle Ball 2009 on Friday (Dec. 11). The two dueted on Usher’s hit “U Got It Bad,” and Bieber also performed “No Air” with Jordin Sparks. Jay Sean, Pitbull, Taylor Swift, Adam Lambert, and more rocked the (jingle) bells at the sold-out concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Keri Hilson celebrated her 27th birthday by performing at 102.7 KIIS FM’s Jingle Ball 2009 at the NOKIA Theatre in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday (Dec. 5). She received an Easy-Bake Oven from radio jock JoJo and was presented with a cake onstage. Fabolous, Jay Sean, Jason Derulo, and Nick Cannon also made appearances.
On a chilly Monday night in downtown New York City, a rowdy crowd gathered at the Highline Ballroom for the 50th concert event of MySpace Music’s “The Release.” Who better to get the audience revved up for the celebration than 50 Cent, who was also reveling in his own release, his fourth album Before I Self Destruct. The event, hosted by Hot 97′s Peter Rosenberg, K.Foxx, and DJ Cipha Sounds, got off to an energetic start with Cipha spinning everything from classic Mobb Deep to Jigga.
The West Coast got even wilder when Snoop Dogg brought his “How the West Was Won” tour to Club Nokia in Los Angeles last Thursday (Nov. 19). The Long Beach native hit the stage in blue Chucks, a matching blue bandana jumpsuit, and shades. The clouds of smoke were a clear indication that the Doggfather himself was in the building. Guest appearances from The Lady of Rage, Too $hort, Xzibit, and Tha Dogg Pound staples Kurupt and Daz filled the night.
Although it was not raining in London, Rihanna still reigned supreme during her concert presented by Nokia at the O2 Academy, Brixton on Monday (Nov. 16). She performed new material from her fourth album Rated R live for the first time, surprising fans with Jay-Z on “Run This Town” and Young Jeezy on her new single “Hard.”
Little Miss Sunshine ran through familiar songs such as “Unfaithful,” “Live Your Life,” “Disturbia,” and her biggest hit to date “Umbrella,” bringing out Jay once more and cementing her position as pop’s new princess.
