Machine Gun Kelly Gets ‘Wild’ at the Woodies

Machine Gun Kelly

Machine Gun Kelly had Austin turned all the way up with his rowdy performance at the 2012 mtvU Woodie Awards during SXSW. The tatted Bad Boy raged on stage as he performed the Ester Dean-assisted “Invincible,” stripping down into his boxer-briefs and diving into the audience for his rebellious anthem “Wild Boy.”

He also won the award for Breaking Woodie, beating out A$AP Rocky, The Weeknd, Meek Mill, Azealia Banks, and Iggy Azalea, among others. “Dreams come true,” said the Cleveland native. “I just wanna thank everyone who believes in someone that the critics do not believe in. Let’s keep winning the awards that the world does not want us to win. Lace up!”

Later in the evening, MGK shot the “Wild Boy (Remix)” video with Meek Mill and Wale and partied with Wiz Khalifa. “I Got Machine Gun Kelly High As Fuck!” tweeted Wiz.

Jay-Z Reps Brooklyn, Blue Ivy Carter at ‘Amex Sync Show’ at SXSW

Jay-Z

With his wife and baby back home in New York, Jay-Z journeyed to Austin, Texas, to headline the “Amex Sync Show” at South by Southwest. After sipping a glass of wine, the hip-hop king stormed the stage at Austin City Lights to his Black Album cut “What More Can I Say.” Rocking a Leroy Jenkins snapback on his head and Nike Air Yeezy 2s on his feet, he performed hit after hit from his expansive catalog for 80 minutes straight.

“All the parents in the house make some noise one time,” Blue Ivy Carter’s father said after performing “Glory” dedicated to his two-month-old daughter. “That might be a first parent shout-out at a rap show.”

He also shouted out Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda and Michael Jackson (“The greatest who ever did it”) during “Izzo (H.O.V.A.).”

“I’m not going anywhere else,” said the Brooklyn boy before closing with “Encore.”

Kanye West and G.O.O.D. Music Turn Up the Power at SXSW

Kanye West and Jay-Z

The star power was shining extra bright at the Seaholm Power Plant in Austin, Texas, over the weekend as VEVO presented G.O.O.D. Music in concert with headliner Kanye West. Heralded as the highlight of South by Southwest (SXSW), 2500 guests, including Beyoncé, Diddy, Cassie, and Asher Roth, were treated to a three-hour spectacular by hip-hop’s dominating crew.

As the label’s logo lit up the stage in flashing colors, the G.O.O.D. Music fam comprised of John Legend, Kid Cudi, Mos Def, Big Sean, Pusha T, CyHi the Prynce, Mr Hudson, and Fonzworth Bentley took turns sharing the mic with Mr. West, clad in all black everything. Bon Iver and Teyana Taylor also stepped in to lend their vocals to tracks from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

After changing into a red blazer and drawstring pants, ‘Ye brought out a marching band for a triumphant rendition of “All of the Lights.” But the camera phones (and iPads) really came out when Jay-Z stormed the stage, trading verses with Yeezy on “H•A•M,” “Monster,” and “So Appalled.” He even took it back to 2000 with “Big Pimpin’.”

Around 4 a.m., Kanye’s labelmates joined him onstage for the star-studded “Good Life” finale, shutting down the powerful evening.

Video: Diddy Joins Lil B and Odd Future Onstage at SXSW

Diddy hung out with the cool kids at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas, over the weekend. The hip-hop mogul, wearing a “Cocaine & Caviar” T-shirt, introduced Lil B at the Fader Fort before surprising the audience with another performance from Odd Future.

“Both these last two acts are the future of the music industry,” announced Puff of the rising stars. “Make some noise for the future of the music industry.”

OFWGKTA’s Tyler, the Creator got hit in the face with a Mountain Dew bottle while performing “Sandwitches,” and stopped the music to find the person who threw it. “Man the f**k up right now,” he said, but no one came forward.

Watch them bum rush the stage and see Diddy do the “O Let’s Do It (Remix)” and “Mo Money Mo Problems” below.
