Dawn Richard Rehearses for SXSW [Sneak Peek]

Dawn Richard is gearing up for the release of her EP Armor On, available March 27 on iTunes. The former Dirty Money member will showcase some of her new material at SXSW in Austin, Texas, tonight. Hours before she hits the stage, she’s giving her Hearts a sneak peek into her rehearsals. Watch a short clip of Dawn and her band performing Prince’s “I Would Die 4 U” and “Change,” an interlude off the EP, and check back for actual footage from the show.

Timbaland Previews New Missy Elliott Song at SXSW

If seeing Missy Elliott in J. Cole’s video for “Nobody’s Perfect” wasn’t enough to get you excited for her comeback, Timbaland drums up more anticipation for Misdemeanor’s long-awaited return by previewing some new music.

During his set at the Breeding Ground showcase at SXSW in Austin, Timbo teased with a snippet of a new song from his partner-in-rhyme.

“Me and Timbaland the new Ike and Tina,” raps Missy on the club banger, which may be from her upcoming album, tentatively titled Block Party. Both artists are planning to release their projects simultaneously this summer.

“@Timbaland time to finish mixing these joints so we can world premier these movies! *jumpsbackinmyspacecraft* I’m out!” Missy recently tweeted.

50 Cent reminisced on his glory days with his headline performance at the Shady 2.0 Showcase at South by Southwest on Friday night. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Get Rich or Die Tryin’, the hip-hop superstar performed a 50-minute set consisting of his entire 2003 debut.

Lil Wayne Skates Into SXSW for DEWeezy Launch Concert

Jay-Z and 50 Cent are not the only hip-hop titans taking over SXSW. Lil Wayne rocked Austin at the DEWeezy launch party on Thursday night. Everyone’s favorite martian announced his partnership with Mountain Dew, kicking it off with a concert at Austin Music Hall. His YMCMB teammates Jay Sean and Mystikal hit the stage first before making way for the Young Money chief, who entered with a skateboard in hand.

“I am here on behalf of Young Money-Cash Money, Trukfit, and Mountain Dew,” Weezy told the crowd of hipsters and hip-hop heads. “And what I want you to do tonight is lose your fucking mind.”

In addition to performing selections from his catalog of hits, he brought out the Mountain Dew skate team, Birdman, and Bow Wow, who joined him on “Sweat.”

Machine Gun Kelly Gets ‘Wild’ at the Woodies

Machine Gun Kelly had Austin turned all the way up with his rowdy performance at the 2012 mtvU Woodie Awards during SXSW. The tatted Bad Boy raged on stage as he performed the Ester Dean-assisted “Invincible,” stripping down into his boxer-briefs and diving into the audience for his rebellious anthem “Wild Boy.”

He also won the award for Breaking Woodie, beating out A$AP Rocky, The Weeknd, Meek Mill, Azealia Banks, and Iggy Azalea, among others. “Dreams come true,” said the Cleveland native. “I just wanna thank everyone who believes in someone that the critics do not believe in. Let’s keep winning the awards that the world does not want us to win. Lace up!”

Later in the evening, MGK shot the “Wild Boy (Remix)” video with Meek Mill and Wale and partied with Wiz Khalifa. “I Got Machine Gun Kelly High As Fuck!” tweeted Wiz.

2 Chainz upped the star power at South by Southwest during his set at SOBs 30th Anniversary event at The Belmont in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday. Concertgoers whipped out their camera phones when Kanye West and Big Sean hit the stage with their Def Jam labelmate.
