After shooting his “Guts Over Fear” video in Detroit, Eminem made a surprise appearance at WSJ. Magazine’s 2014 Innovator Awards at the Museum of Modern Art in New York on Wednesday. A nervous Em took the podium to honor his mentor Dr. Dre and Beats co-founder Jimmy Iovine for their entrepreneurship.
“Dre and Jimmy are like a force of nature,” said Em as he read off notecards. “As an example of how powerful they are, they had me fly here all the way from Detroit to speak publicly, and I really hate public speaking.”
Dre and Iovine recently launched their undergraduate academy at USC with the goal of inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs. The Beats co-founders, who sold their company to Apple for $3 billion, bankrolled the academy with a $70 million donation.
Em is gearing up to release his double-disc album ShadyXV on November 24 featuring Slaughterhouse, 50 Cent, Big Sean, DeJ Loaf, and more.
During Wednesday’s ceremony, Madonna was also on hand to present the performing arts award to jookin master Lil Buck.
Can’t stop, won’t stop. To celebrate his 45th birthday, Diddy went all out and threw a pajama party at his Beverly Hills mansion on Tuesday night. Some of his famous friends including Nelly, Snoop Dogg, Jermaine Dupri, and Bow Wow dressed in their loungewear to party with Puff.
French Montana and Khloe Kardashian surprised the Bad Boy mogul with a lavish whip. “I got a little surprise for my brother,” French told partygoers while directing everyone to the front of the house where a pearl white Cadillac Escalade was waiting in the driveway.
“Oh my God. What the f**k is this?” said a shocked Puff. “You know only ni**as from Harlem get pearl cars.”
He hugged French and jumped in the driver’s seat of his new ride. “Can’t buy a ni**a a motherfu**in’ Ferrari, a Bentley, a Rolls-Royce—ni**a got that. I ain’t got a pearl motherfu**in’ Cadillac,” declared Puff.
Diddy also spoiled himself with a G5 jet, while Cassie baked an apple pie for her man. “Don’t know or care to know what my life would be like without you,” she told him. “Beyond happy and grateful to have you in it.”
All hail Her Minajesty. Nicki Minaj holds court on the cover of V Magazine for the second time. In the colorful photos, shot by Mario Testino, the “undefeated champion of hip-hop” gets dolled up in designer threads and rules her queendom.
The leader of the Barbz rocks a red dress by Guess, vintage beret, and Jimmy Choo heels as she poses alongside a statue in her royal garden and unleashes her inner pussycat in a cutout Balmain dress and leopard-print hat, gloves, and Manolo Blahnik heels.
As she gears up for the December 15 release of her third album The Pinkprint, the rap mogul speaks about maintaining her edge. “I always push the envelope, because I’m Nicki Minaj. I have to,” she said. “No matter who I’m on a song with, I feel like I have to say at least one thing that no one else is willing to say. Whether it’s Madonna, Britney, or Beyoncé, they always tell me, ‘Yes. Be yourself. Talk your shit.’”
She also shares her love for Versace, which she boldly wears in the photo shoot. “What I love about Versace is that it’s so rich,” she said. “Rap is a lot of showing off, and fashion is too. Versace is like, look at me, bitch. I’m here.”

Beyoncé had a busy day. After announcing her Platinum Edition box set, the singer made an appearance at the Topshop Topman New York City flagship opening event at Grand Central Terminal in New York last night. Bey rocked short hair and a $130 black sequin mini dress while mingling with model Cara Delevingne and Topshop owner Sir Philip Green.
The star-studded event also brought out Nick Jonas and Ciara, who looked hot in a pair of Topman overalls.
Bey hit the black carpet and spoke about her new partnership with Topshop to launch the global athletic streetwear brand Parkwood Topshop Athletic Ltd. in fall 2015.
“I’ve been such a huge fan for so many years, it’s just a natural thing for us,” she told CNBC. “I’m very excited about it. We started our meetings and it’s the beginning of something exciting.”
The multi-talented mogul was also named the top-earning woman in music by Forbes. She earned an estimated $115 million in 2014 thanks to touring, her self-titled album, and endorsement deals with H&M and Pepsi.
The gloves are coming off. Eminem got into character while shooting the music video for his Sia-assisted single “Guts Over Fear” in his hometown of Detroit.
Em plays a boxer, rocking a red robe with “XV” on the back, in the Syndrome-directed clip (“3 A.M.,” “Crack a Bottle”). He shared the first photo from the set with his 96 million Facebook fans.
“Filming the Guts Over Fear Music Video in Detroit,” wrote Em.
The track is the lead single off the ShadyXV compilation. The two-disc collection features new music from Em, Slaughterhouse, Bad Meets Evil, Yelawolf, and D12, plus some of the label’s greatest hits including Em’s “Lose Yourself,” 50 Cent’s “In Da Club,” and D12′s “Fight Music.”
