Kanye West unveiled his American Pyscho-inspired short film during his listening session in Los Angeles on Friday night. Just like “New Slaves,” the graphic visuals were projected against a wall outside Milk Studios, where hundreds of celebrities, journalists, and tastemakers gathered to hear his new album Yeezus in a warehouse with flashing lights.
The two-minute clip was shot earlier this month in Brooklyn and stars Kim Kardashian’s BFF Jonathan Cheban and her sister Kourtney’s boyfriend Scott Disick. In the horror film, a dapper Disick ends up attacking Cheban with an axe, leaving his bloody body on the floor.
Rap-Up was on the scene and captured some footage. However, it was difficult to hear the dialogue as Yeezus was blasting in the background. The police eventually asked ‘Ye’s camp to turn off the sound.
The event brought out Justin Bieber, Tyler, the Creator, Evan Ross, Melody Thornton, and Disick, who were also seen jamming to Yeezus. However, Yeezus himself never blessed the crowd with his presence.
Kanye West and J. Cole are both dropping albums on June 18, but don’t forget about Mac Miller. The Pittsburgh rapper sends us a dark reminder with the sinful video for “Watching Movies,” the title track off his sophomore album Watching Movies With the Sound Off.
In the strange clip, a pastor performs an exorcism on him as women shake their asses in a warehouse. He gets pleasured by ladies in his car and wakes up in a coffin.
Grab your popcorn and watch Mac’s mad movie below.
Bruno Mars brings back the ’80s in the throwback video for “Treasure,” the third single off his album Unorthodox Jukebox. The Hawaiian hitmaker dances under a disco ball with his band, the Hooligans, in red suits and leopard-print shirts, and charms a young lady in the grainy visuals, which are reminiscent of a VHS recording.
Following the death of his mother earlier this month, Bruno thanked his fans for their support. “So thankful for all the love during the most difficult time in my life. Ill be back on my feet again soon.Thats what mom wants, she told me,” he tweeted.
Catch him performing on the season finale of “The Voice” on Tuesday, June 18.
With “The Voice” season finale next week, Usher stopped by “Conan” to get the vote out for his Team Usher contestant Michelle Chamuel.
During the sit-down interview, the R&B superstar spoke about going “balls out” for former President Clinton, playing boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard in the upcoming biopic Hands of Stone, and making “sexy time” to his own music.
“I don’t make love or perform to my own songs intimately,” he said.
He recalled the time a female fan decided to get naked in front of him in the street. “I didn’t let her on the bus, of course,” said Ursh.
Before leaving, he taught Conan some slick choreography and in return, Conan showed him his own signature moves.
The Weeknd put on for his city during a sold-out show at Toronto’s Mod Club on Thursday. The Canadian crooner performed his new single “Kiss Land” for the first time as well as “Gifted,” his collaboration with French Montana.
He also debuted a new song, reportedly titled “You Belong to the World.”
“I want to erase you, domesticate you, but you belong to the world,” he sang amidst flashing lights and screaming fans.
The Weeknd’s new album Kiss Land is due later this year.
Robin Thicke celebrated his first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with a performance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” Clad in a black suit, the R&B crooner performed his hit “Blurred Lines” with some help from Pharrell on Thursday’s show. Miley Cyrus and Leah LaBelle danced onstage during the lively set, which was taped from the Myspace event the prior night.
Kimmel also remade the famous NSFW video, but his version was not quite as sexy or cool as the original. In the “unedited” clip, the talk show host and his sidekick Guillermo crash the set, dancing alongside the models in matching outfits just like Thicke and Pharrell’s. Pharrell eventually breaks a chair over Kimmel’s head, while Guillermo gets down in his metallic suit.
“I think Guillermo wore it better @jimmykimmel,” joked Pharrell.
J. Cole gave an intimate performance at Universal Studios Hollywood for “Big Boy’s Backstage Breakfast” on Power 106. The Roc Nation MC, who is currently playing $1 shows on his “Dollar & a Dream” tour, delivered old and new material including “Lights Please,” “Nobody’s Perfect,” “Can’t Get Enough,” “Power Trip,” and his latest single “Crooked Smile.”
His sophomore album Born Sinner will compete with Kanye West’s Yeezus on June 18. “It was more of a competitive move,” said Cole. “I’m a fan so I know how huge he is, and I’m not just battling Kanye West. I’m battling Kim Kardashian, the Yeezys, the baby. I realize that, I understand that, but the competitive side of me is like, ‘Yo, I’m bringing something to the table too, and check me out the same day.’”
He also discussed his first job, his crush on Alicia Keys, and getting the cold shoulder from Jay-Z.
2 Chainz was robbed at gunpoint, and that’s no lie. While there were conflicting reports at first, footage shows that the hip-hop superstar was indeed the victim. In the surveillance video, obtained by TMZ, 2 Chainz and his entourage are seen walking down the street in San Francisco on Sunday afternoon when at least two men approached them with guns.
2 Chainz and his crew scattered, running down the street while the gunmen chased after them. During the pursuit, 2 Chainz stumbles and falls, while one of the gunmen pounces on him with his gun drawn.
According to police, his cell phone and wallet were stolen. Towards the end of the video, you can see a man running back up the street with the stolen goods stuffed under his clothing.
When the story originally surfaced, 2 Chainz denied that he was the victim, tweeting, “Rule #1 if a rapper gets robbed people usually post items that has been taken. Rings, chains, watch , money etc.”
