New Music: Beyoncé – ‘7/11’ + ‘Ring Off’

Beyoncé

It’s been nearly a year since Beyoncé surprised the world and released her self-titled album. Since then, BEYONCÉ has gone double platinum and spawned several hits. To commemorate the milestone, Bey will release the Platinum Edition Box Set on Monday featuring two new songs, “7/11″ and “Ring Off.”

On the R&B banger “7/11,” produced by Bobby Johnson and Detail, Bey gets to flexin’.

“Smack that, clap that … like you don’t care,” she commands over the rattling bassline.

On the Mike Caren-produced “Ring Off,” Bey sings about a painful breakup, but turns it into a celebration about finding new love (“It’s your time to put your love on top”). Her own mother Tina Knowles, who inspired the song, also shares her words of wisdom.

“You took that ring off / So tired of the lies and trying, crying, fighting / Took that ring off,” sings Bey. “Oh, and now the fun begins / Dust yourself off and you love again / You found a new man, now you shine and you’re fine like it’s my time.”

In addition to the two new tracks, the 2 CD/2 DVD set includes four unreleased remixes featuring Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Pharrell Williams, and Mr. Vegas.

The full songs have leaked, but you can listen to the official 90-second snippets below.

Rap-Up TV: B.o.B Talks New Album, ‘Fleek,’ and Working with Lil Wayne & Jodeci

With his Trey Songz-assisted single “Not for Long” rising up the charts, B.o.B is readying his fourth album for a spring 2015 release. In between dates on his “No Genre” tour, Rap-Up TV caught up with the Atlanta rapper in L.A. to discuss the follow-up to 2013′s Underground Luxury, which finds him returning to his roots.

“This album will be more like The Adventures of Bobby Ray to me,” he said of his 2010 debut. “But with an edge that The Adventures of Bobby Ray never had.”

The as-yet-untitled project, which he’s been producing himself, will have a rawness like his mixtape material. “When I say edge, I don’t mean like vulgarities like hardcore rap,” said B.o.B. “I just mean the rawness of a lot of my mixtapes and the early stuff when I was doing shit for the hell of it.”

He recently launched his label No Genre (“It quite simply means I can do what the f**k I feel like doing”) and showcased two of his artists, Lin-Z and London Jae, on the viral track “Fleek.”

“Fleek is on point, it’s dope, it’s flawless,” he explained. “You don’t want to be off fleek or no fleek.”

While he wouldn’t confirm it, he said there’s a “strong possibility” of a new collaboration between him and Lil Wayne on Tha Carter V.

However, he is featured on Jodeci’s comeback single “Nobody Wins.” “It is a really jammin’ song,” he said. “It’s a really refreshing sound. It kinda reminds me of like neo-soul meets Goodie Mob meets modern day music.”

Tink

In addition to playing the Tink version of Rick Ross’ “Movin’ Bass,” a proud Timbaland debuted a new song from his 19-year-old protégée during his visit to “The Breakfast Club.” Tink shows off her wicked wordplay on “Around the Clock,” which features Power 105′s own Charlamagne Tha God.

“I make a scene and when I leave, I make ‘em stand like the bride / Let’s get these rappers on the altar / Let ‘em pray while they can / I’m comin’ heavy as a pound, this ni**as still on the gram,” she raps over the Timbaland-produced beat.

Timbo praised the Chicago rapper, who is signed to Mosley Music Group/Epic Records. “Her album is probably one of the best albums I did since [Aaliyah's] One in a Million,” he said.
