Rap-Up TV has your all-access pass on set of the video for Kelly Rowland’s “Commander,” the first single from her third solo album. The independent woman struts into the future in her five-inch heels and custom-made wardrobe for the Masashi Muto-directed clip, filmed in Los Angeles on Wednesday (May 5). Renowned choreographer Fatima Robinson teaches the commander-in-chief some new moves to go along with the visuals.
“The whole concept is very futuristic, very cool. It’s about me being the commander above anything, but it adds a different element of a club atmosphere—a very big atmosphere with very cool people,” Kelly told Rap-Up TV. “I’m battling myself with hair, with makeup, with the routines. I had to pull out my dancing shoes for this video.”
Rico Love, who penned the David Guetta production, chimed in on the avant-garde styling. “Kelly’s look in this video is just utterly sexy. It’s like a jungle feel,” he shared. “I feel like we’re in Avatar somewhere, running through the woods, minus the blue paint.”
