Following months of speculation, Trey Songz and Chris Brown finally made it official and announced their “Between the Sheets” co-headlining tour during an event at the House of Blues in L.A. on Monday. The R&B superstars sat down with Terrence J for a Q&A and performed three songs including “Touchin, Lovin,” “Loyal,” and their remix to ILoveMakonnen and Drake’s “Tuesday.”
They will be joined by Tyga on the 25-date trek, which kicks off on January 28 in Hampton, Va., and travels to Brooklyn, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and L.A. Tickets go on sale to the public on November 17.
After the big announcement, Trey caught up with Rap-Up TV to discuss the tour’s origins. The initial idea came about a few months ago when they were in the studio.
“[Chris] and I spent a couple nights in the studio after creating [‘Songs on 12 Play’] and we looked up and had more than enough songs together just to go out and perform together,” he explained. “Us being friends, us having a synergy amongst each other musically as well as being friends, I thought it’d be great for the fans.”
Team Breezy and Trey’s Angels can look forward to seeing both singers perform their hits and new material off their latest albums X and Trigga.
“You can expect major energy. You can expect three guys out there going and doing their best every night. Of course, we’re friends and we love one another, but it’s gonna be a friendly competition so you can expect us to go out there every night, not to try to outdo anybody, but just giving our best, putting our best foot forward and making the fans happy.”
In anticipation of the tour, Trigga and Breezy dropped several remixes including ScHoolboy Q’s “Studio,” TeeFLii’s “24 Hours,” and ILoveMakonnen’s “Tuesday.” So can we expect a joint project?
“Who knows? Both of us work very fast together,” said Trey. “The first time I’ve actually sat in the booth and recorded vocals with another artist has been with Chris and the same for him. I think it’s fair to say that with us being on the road together, being around each other every day, I think it’ll be very easy to get records done and kinda inevitable.”
Trey recently shot a video for his new single “Touchin, Lovin” featuring Nicki Minaj, which will premiere in the weeks ahead.
