Fresh off signing a reported $2 million deal with Def Jam, Trinidad James made an appearance at Power 106s Cali Christmas to perform his much-talked-about single “All Gold Everything.” Before hitting the stage, Rap-Up TV caught up with the Atlanta newcomer to discuss the signing.
“I live my life how I’m feeling and it felt right,” said the 25-year-old, who was being pursued by other labels before deciding on Def Jam.
But he insists he’s not a one-hit wonder. “I’m really not a one-hit wonder. I’m really not. People chose to like that song,” he said. “People fail to realize that they’re the ones who make a buzz. You can’t really buy a true buzz. To all the people who hate that I’m doing so well, you should hate the people who made me do so well ’cause all I did was make the music and put it out.”
Trinidad recently shot a video for “One More Molly” off his mixtape Don’t Be S.A.F.E. and has big plans for 2013. “I just want to win harder than I won this year, and I won this year.”
