Inside Ne-Yo's 28th Birthday Party
On Wednesday night, Ne-Yo celebrated his 28th birthday at the Tribeca Rooftop in New York City. Many celebrity guests came through to show some love to the singer/songwriter extraordinaire, including Janet Jackson, Jermaine Dupri, Rihanna, LL Cool J, Jay-Z, Ray J, Beanie Sigel, Chrisette Michele, and Chingy. The event was hosted by Compound Entertainment, Belvedere, and MVD Inc.
Terrence, the co-host of BET’s 106 & Park, gave a funny and energetic birthday shout out to Ne-Yo. “Happy Birthday you old punk!” he stated with a smile. “You better celebrate; you better drink up boy.” Other guests, such as Ray J gave the crooner praise. “[Ne-Yo is] a great and talented artist. So you know, I just wish him all the best,” Ray said.
Rockport footwear was in the building, giving away sneakers and shoes. The partygoers scattered around trying to get their hands on a pair. Others were cutting it up on the dance floor with a glass of champagne or Belvedere, jamming to some lovely old and new school tunes, spun by DJ Cassidy and Sky Nellor.
Ne-Yo looked sharp from head to toe, sporting a stylish hat and a dark brown button down shirt and tie. He was a gracious host as he was often spotted mingling with folks in the party and on the rooftop. The energy level was on high and remained positive the entire night (read: no beefs or brawls). In Ne-Yo’s eyes, it looked as if there was nothing that could ruin the festivities in his honor. People gathered to grab a bite of the singer’s large, rectangular red velvet sheet cake. Covered with white and grey frosting, Ne-Yo’s name was written in big, bold red icing across the middle.
According to the birthday boy, the most precious gift he received was the opportunity to spend quality time with his mother and sister. “I don’t get to do that a whole lot,” Ne-Yo revealed. “This is their first time out here in New York; they came out here with me and it feels good man.”Â
