Erykah Badu performed a cover of folk singer James Taylor’s “You’ve Got a Friend” during halftime at the NBA Sprite Slam Dunk Contest in her hometown of Dallas on Saturday (Feb. 13).

Who chose this song for NBA All-Star Weekend? Apparently, we’re not the only ones who thought it was an odd choice. “Glad I got a chance to sing 1/2 time, but wish I could have sang my own damn song,” tweeted Badu. “I’m not so great at doing covers .. Fu**ed that bridge ALL up .. Lol.”

“Jump Up in the Air and Stay There” would have been more appropriate, don’t you think?
