The Black Eyed Peas helped get the global party started at the 2010 FIFA World Cup Kick-Off Celebration Concert at Orlando Stadium in Soweto, South Africa, on Thursday (June 10). Dressed in glitzy, futuristic costumes, Fergie, will.i.am, apl.de.ap, and Taboo ran through an energetic set that included “Where Is the Love,” “Boom Boom Pow,” and “I Gotta Feeling.”

“Tonight we can all be in an ‘Empire State of Mind,'” said Alicia Keys before performing her New York anthem in front of 30,000 concertgoers. The pregnant singer also sang “No One,” “You Don’t Know My Name,” and “Fallin’.”

John Legend treated the crowd to his new single “Wake Up Everybody” from his forthcoming ’60s and ’70s covers album, while Shakira launched into “Hips Don’t Lie” with South African hip-hop artist Tumi Molekane and then delivered the official 2010 FIFA World Cup Song, “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).”
