Miguel, Sheek Louch Invade 135th Street Agency’s Annual BBQ

No amount of clouds could have kept the 135th Street Agency’s 4th Annual BBQ and Fish Fry in Harlem from happening. The smoke of the grilled goodies, situated on Talay’s private patio, rivaled that of nearby restaurant Dinosaur BBQ just a couple blocks away. The smell and the sounds greeted ladies teetering in on stilettos and gentlemen in their favorite tees, all with their game face on, prepared to have a good time.
Classic hip-hop spun by Power 105.1’s DJ Will and DJ On Point blasted from speakers and kept bodies in a continuous sway. The pristine white day beds allowed for sole refuge for those tired of teaching others how to Dougie.
The event, hosted by radio and TV personality Free, welcomed a slew of celebs from the likes of “All I Want Is You” creator Miguel, LOX member Sheek Louch, and Notorious actor Jamal “Gravy” Woolard.
On a beautfully cool summer night, 135th Street Agency stayed true to the block party BBQ spirit with fried fish sandwiched between Wonder Bread, hot dogs, and burgers flying off the grill. Even speed-demon-loving motorcycle riders stopped by to sip on the free-flowing Hennessy, munch on mini Golden Krust patties, and rested their decked out helmets on a table, turning it into a gangsterific candy bowl. Once the giant boxes of butter cream-frosted Tonnie’s mini cupcakes hit the table, it was hard to make an exit while the nagging urge to consume the tiny confection kept creeping up.
While good times were had by all, many kids not in attendance will be benefitting from those who donated towards advancing their education. 135th Street Agency partnered with Global Language Project, an educational movement that equips disadvantaged elementary public school students in New York City to compete in a globalized world and workforce by providing a comprehensive language-training program aimed at helping them achieve fluency in a language other than English.
