Lauryn Hill Goes Nerd Chic at Rock the Bells
Lauryn Hill got her Steve Urkle on during the Rock the Bells Festival at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, Calif., on Sunday (Aug. 22). Wearing red-framed glasses, a trenchcoat, high-waisted pants, black-and-white striped blouse, and heeled boots, L. Boogie ripped through a set that included “Doo Wop (That Thing)” and “Ready or Not” on the second date of the trek.
The Los Angeles Times heralded Ms. Hill’s much-anticipated appearance at the festival. “Known for her eccentric behavior and supererogatory gifts, the reclusive singer/MC dispelled any doubts of her abilities,” wrote Jeff Weiss. “While occasionally chaotic and harried, her voice and skills remained peerless and again revealed that her lack of prolificacy doesn’t stem from an absence of talent.”
