It wasn’t certain if Jay-Z was going to appear on J. Cole’s debut Cole World: The Sideline Story (Sept. 27), but he made it just in the knick of time. Hov trades bars with his Roc Nation protégé on “Mr. Nice Watch,” which lives up to the enormous hype. “What up Cole, it’s your time, let these ni**as know,” raps President Carter over the heavy-hitting electronic beat, while the North Carolina MC proves a worthy successor. Solid as a Roc.
