Meek Mill Previews 'Dreams and Nightmares' at New York Listening
After months of anticipation, Meek Mill presented his debut album Dreams and Nightmares to a packed house last night at Electric Lady Studios in New York City. With his mentor Rick Ross by his side, the Maybach Music MC played each track and spoke to the star-studded crowd, which included Jay-Z, Wale, Estelle, The-Dream, and even Will Smith.
The 25-year-old Philly native showcased the Dreams side of the album, with songs such as “Maybach Curtains” with Nas, John Legend, and Rick Ross. He caters to the ladies on “Lay Up” featuring Trey Songz and Wale, while Mary J. Blige lends her voice to “Who You’re Around.” And of course, he didn’t forget about his roots, delivering street anthems reminiscent of his Dreamchasers mixtapes.
“You ain’t got too many new guys that just coming with that hard street shit,” said Meek while introducing “In God We Trust.” “This is where it all started at so I decided to keep some of that on my album.”
