Chris Brown on Rihanna: 'We're Working on Our Friendship'
In addition to premiering his new single “Nobody’s Perfect” on Friday, Chris Brown opened up about his relationship with Rihanna in a candid interview. Speaking with Big Boy on L.A.’s Power 106, the R&B superstar said that he and his ex-girlfriend are not back together, but remain friends.
“It’s just me being honest with myself,” said Breezy of the viral video he put out describing his love triangle with Rihanna and Karrueche Tran. “Me and [Rihanna] have history and me and her definitely gonna be best of friends, and we’re working on our friendship now.”
While there have been many outspoken critics of their relationship, he’s not concerned with people’s opinions. “I think everyone feels attached to this old situation,” said Chris. “It’s still a very detrimental situation ’cause it’s stuff that we deal with today and that’s why I’m doing the Jenesse Center that shows that domestic violence is not OK. But as far as our personal life, I think people gotta give it a chance, not even give it a chance, shut the hell up. At the end of the day, whatever opinion they have ain’t gonna change nothing I’m doing.”
He explained why he decided to release the video where he talks about being in love with the two women. “When I feel a certain urge, whether it’s music or emotion, I feel it’s good to share with people ’cause it’s an experience and a life lesson,” said Chris, who was confronted by Karrueche about the video. “I’m not trying to rush anything, put any rings on anybody’s fingers or lie to anybody. I’d just rather be completely honest.”
He doesn’t expect the public to understand. “As far as the world goes, I’m not asking them to accept that. Buy an album, damnit.”
