All hail Snoop Lion. The rapper-turned-reggae star continues his Reincarnated journey with the video for “Here Comes the King.” As part of his career reinvention and spiritual reawakening, Snoop escapes to Jamaica where he performs in a white palace with cheerleaders while wearing a cassock and glittery Rasta shades.
The song, produced by Diplo and Major Lazer and co-written by Angela Hunte (“Empire State of Mind”), will be featured on Snoop’s Reincarnated album. Meanwhile, his documentary opens March 15 following its premiere at SXSW.
“We were searching for true reggae music,” said Snoop, who will perform at the Staples Center in L.A. on June 29 as part of the BET Experience. “That’s what this record is all about. It’s about paying homage and giving love to those who created reggae music and honoring what it was made for.”
