Gucci Mane caused a firestorm on social media with his tweets earlier this month. Following his rant, an apologetic Guwop returned to Twitter to make amends and admit his addiction to lean.

The Brick Squad rapper deleted his account after attacking his peers including Nicki Minaj, Tyga, Ciara, Fantasia, and Keyshia Cole. Later in the week, he was arrested and hospitalized for allegedly cussing out cops in Atlanta while in possession of weed and a handgun.

But a much different Gucci appeared on Twitter Sunday, apologizing for his hurtful words. “Woke up the other day out this hospital bed & I’m so embarrassed & ashamed of my behavior that was brought to my attention,” he tweeted. “I just wanna man up right now & take this time to apologize to my family, friends, the industry & most of all my fans. I’m SORRY!”

The rant was fueled by his addiction to codeine. “I’ve been drinking lean for 10plus years & I must admit it has destroyed me. I wanna be the first rapper to admit I’m addicted to lean & that shit ain’t no joke,” he continued. “I can barely remember all the things I’ve done & said. However there’s no excuse.”

After he’s released from jail, he will be heading to rehab. “I’m currently incarcerated but I will be going to rehab because I need help,” he admitted.

While he offended many of his peers, he apologized specifically to Birdman, Rick Ross, and Drake. “I wanna personally apologize to birdman ross & drake. Dem my niggas. I 100% regret my words & actions,” said Gucci.

He also expressed his gratitude to those who’ve supported him. “I wanna thank everyone that has stood by me during this difficult time. Please keep me in your prayers. #GUWOP.”

He hopes to move forward and turn the focus back to his music. “Wrote sum new hard shit can’t wait to get out dis hell hole so y’all can hear dis shit,” he told his followers.
