Kendrick Lamar sat down with Chris Paul for the cover of ESPN The Magazine‘s Music Issue. The Grammy-nominated rapper and L.A. Clippers guard, who originally connected on Twitter, went one-on-one to discuss the relationship between music and sports.
While Kendrick is a diehard Lakers fan, he still has love for the Clippers. He also revealed that if he could have any job in sports, he would be a referee “’cause the referees get to be on the court with those players for every game.”
“I can’t play ball, so I’ll be a referee,” said Kendrick.
Chris, who listens to Kendrick’s music to get pumped up for a game, admitted that he envies the Compton MC. “I play basketball and I love what I do, but when I went to Kendrick’s show and saw him on that stage, I was envious. I’m envious of the audience he’s able to touch,” he said.
Chris shared his dreams of being a rapper (He once recorded a song to a No Limit beat) and Kendrick revealed his hoop dreams. “I got game on the court … I just didn’t grow tall enough,” said K-Dot.
The issue, which also features cover stars Nicki Minaj and Eminem, hits newsstands on Friday.
