Lil Wayne

From Beyoncé to The 1975, mtvU celebrated the music college students love at the 2014 mtvU Woodie Awards during SXSW in Austin, Texas, on Thursday. The show, which was taped before a live audience, featured performances from Lil Wayne, Iggy Azalea, Childish Gambino, and more.

Tunechi surprised the crowd by kicking off the show with a freestyle and a verse from “A Milli,” leading into the evening’s first performers, The 1975.

Wiz Khalifa presented Drake with the night’s biggest honor, Woodie of the Year, which his Young Money boss Weezy accepted on his behalf.

Following an introduction from Danny Brown and Steve Aoki, Iggy Azalea had the audience on its feet with a Clueless-inspired performance of “Fancy” featuring Charli XCX.

Childish Gambino closed out the show. After entering from the back of the venue covered in LED lights, the rapper-actor led a marching band to the stage, where he performed a medley of “3005” and “Sweatpants.”

Beyoncé won the first-ever Did It My Way Woodie, Chance the Rapper took home Best Video Woodie, and A$AP Rocky and Skrillex picked up the Best Collaboration Woodie.

The 2014 mtvU Woodie Awards will air on Sunday, March 16, at 8 p.m. on MTV. See a full list of winners below.
