Common Returns with New Single 'Kingdom'

Common

Common takes it back to the Chi with “Kingdom,” the first single off his upcoming 10th album Nobody’s Smiling. The song features XXL Freshman Vince Staples, while the Hype Williams-directed video was shot in his hometown.

Executive produced by No I.D., the follow-up to 2011’s The Dreamer/The Believer is set to arrive later this year on the 20th anniversary of Common and No I.D.’s 1994 album Resurrection.

The concept-driven project was inspired by the tragedies in Chicago. “We came up with this concept Nobody Smiling [and it] was really a thought that came about because of all the violence that was going on in Chicago,” Common told REVOLT.

The full song will premiere Friday. Watch the 60-second trailer below.
