Pharrell and Missy Elliott

The year of Pharrell continues. The “Happy” hitmaker kicked off the BET Awards 2014 at Nokia Theatre in L.A. on Sunday.

“This is for Virginia,” he said while taking the stage with his University of Baes to perform “Come Get It Bae.”

He then brought out the “empress of Virginia,” Missy Elliott, to perform her 2003 hit “Pass That Dutch.”

“Love you @MissyElliott. Thank you for performing with me. #TheEmpress #Virginia #BaeUniversity #BETAwards @BET,” tweeted Pharrell.

Watch the VA players rip the stage.
