Sam Smith Wins Big at MOBO Awards; Jeremih, Jessie J, & Kid Ink Perform
Sam Smith continued his breakthrough year at the 2014 MOBO Awards. The British sensation picked up four awards including Best R&B/Soul Act, Best Male Act, and Best Song for “Stay With Me” at the 19th annual ceremony at London’s SSE Arena Wembley on Wednesday.
Eve presented the Best Album to Smith for his critically-acclaimed debut In the Lonely Hour. “I just want to thank ever single person who wrote on my record with me and was my personal therapist for a good year,” said Smith, who dedicated the award to his parents.
Nicole Scherzinger served up her single “On the Rocks” off her album Big Fat Lie, which was released in the U.K. earlier in the week. Jessie J was joined by special guest Kid Ink on “Burnin’ Up,” and Jeremih had the crowd moving along to his top 10 hit “Don’t Tell ‘Em.”
K. Michelle turned heads on the red carpet in a bootylicious black dress, Eve arrived with her husband Maximillion Cooper, and Kid Ink brought his own hot date.
Other MOBO winners included Beyoncé for Best International Act and Jessie J for Best Female Act.
