Common and Queen Latifah

Before he kicks off his “Nobody’s Smiling” tour with Jay Electronica on November 21, Common paid a visit to his friend Queen Latifah on Friday. The Chicago MC sat down with his Just Wright co-star to discuss J Dilla’s legacy, being a ball boy for the Bulls, and playing Latifah’s husband on screen. The two even reenacted one romantic scene.

Common can be seen in the Martin Luther King, Jr. biopic Selma, which opens in select theaters on Christmas Day.

“It was really one of the most fulfilling experiences I’ve had as an actor to date,” he said.

Plus, he took the stage to perform his new single “Rewind That” off Nobody’s Smiling and broke into an impromptu duet with Latifah on “The Light.”
