Mila J Reps Her L.A. Roots, Introduces Her Father for #MilaMondays

  /  12.22.2014

L.A.LOVE. Mila J puts on for her city as part of her #MilaMondays web series, premiering exclusively on Rap-Up. The “Smoke, Drink, Break-Up” singer takes us on a tour of her ‘hood, including Leimert Plaza Park, and introduces us to her father, Karamo “Dr. Chill” Chilombo.

“I think the misconception is that everybody thinks that L.A. is this glamorous, Hollywood,” she said. “It’s not just the image shown to you of this fake, plastic Barbie doll.”

She hopes to show L.A. in a different light. “I feel like people will connect to me because I am relatable. I want to be the icon from L.A., not just an artist from L.A. I want to be legendary.”

Mila J released her five-track EP M.I.L.A. in September featuring Ty Dolla $ign, B.o.B, and Problem. She is readying her full-length debut for next year.

Watch her rep her roots.
