Nicki Minaj Is Developing a Mobile Game

  /  08.05.2015

Nicki Minaj is expanding her empire. The hip-hop queen has teamed with Glu Mobile Inc., a leading global developer and publisher of free-to-play games for smartphone and tablet devices, to develop her very own mobile game.

As part of the exclusive partnership, Glu will use Minaj’s name, likeness, voice, and creative direction to create a one-of-a-kind digital experience for players. The game is expected to launch worldwide in the summer of 2016.

Glu Mobile is the publisher of Kim Kardashian’s hit mobile game, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, which became one of the highest-grossing apps in Apple’s U.S. app store last summer. It collected $1.6 million within the first five days of launch and went on to generate over $50 million.

“I am thrilled to welcome the undisputed queen of hip-hop, Nicki Minaj, to Glu’s growing list of celebrity partners,” said Niccolo de Masi, Glu Chairman and CEO. “Nicki brings to Glu her audience of over 100 million social followers and a new music category. We look forward to combining Nicki’s distinctive style and massive global appeal with Glu’s celebrity social gaming expertise.”

Minaj’s business portfolio already includes Myx moscato, a Kmart clothing line, and a series of fragrances. Her latest, “The Pinkprint,” is available now at HSN and will hit stores in September.
