Kendrick Lamar Booked as First Musical Guest on 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert'

  /  08.11.2015

King Kendrick is returning to late night. The rap superstar is set to be the first-ever musical guest on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

Kendrick was the last musical guest on Colbert’s Comedy Central show, “The Colbert Report,” where he debuted an unreleased song with Bilal, Thundercat, Anna Wise, and Terrace Martin.

Colbert made the announcement during a speech at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills on Monday (via The Wrap). “My last musical guest [on ‘The Colbert Report’] was Kendrick Lamar, and I would love for him to be my first musical guest. In fact, he will be my first musical guest,” he said.

Colbert’s tenure as host of “The Late Show,” a spot previously held by David Letterman, will kick off Sept. 8. George Clooney will serve as his first guest alongside Kendrick.
