Justin Bieber Performs 'What Do You Mean?' on 'Tonight Show'

  /  09.03.2015

Just days after his VMA performance, Justin Bieber continued his comeback tour with a stop on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Wednesday (Sept. 2). With some help from The Roots, the 21-year-old pop heartthrob performed his new single “What Do You Mean?,” which is No. 1 on iTunes in 89 countries, while Black Thought spit a verse.

He also sang an impromptu country version of the song and discussed his emotional performance at Sunday’s VMAs.

“It was just so overwhelming for me, everything,” said Bieber. “I missed some cues so I was a little disappointed in that and [grateful to] everyone and their support. I just wasn’t expecting them to support me in the way they did. Last time I was at an awards show, I was booed.”

He said the tears were genuine. “It was authentic, it was real. I was really just wanting it so bad.”

He confirmed the Nov. 13 release date for his album, which features production from Skrillex, Kanye West, and Rick Rubin.

Plus, watch him take on Questlove in a drum-off.
