Beyoncé Calls Nicki Minaj 'Rap Queen' in 'Darling Nicki' Serenade
Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj’s friendship is blossoming. The two have appeared in the “Feeling Myself” video together and shared the stage at the TIDAL X: 1020 concert in Brooklyn last week. Now Beyoncé has put her own spin on Prince’s classic “Darling Nicki” as a tribute to her pal, who she hails as the “rap queen.”
“I met this girl named Nicki, I guess you could say she was the rap queen,” sings Bey in the black-and-white rehearsal clip. “I met her in the studio lobby, but her booty looked bigger in the magazines.”
She continues, “She said, Bey will you jump on this song of mine? How could I resist when I heard little Nicki rhyme?”
A flattered Nicki responded, tweeting, “Bey has spoken 👸🏽👸🏽👑👑💞💕💖 #RapQueen #QueenBey my #bayBey 😊 Still have the #Tidal kisses to all my QUEENS.”
