Erykah Badu Disses Iggy Azalea at Soul Train Awards
Peace, love, and soul? Not so much. Erykah Badu took a shot at Iggy Azalea while hosting the 2015 Soul Train Awards, which aired Sunday on BET. During her opening monologue, R&B’s high priestess pretended to take a phone call from the Aussie rapper, who asked if she can attend the awards.
“Oh no, no, no, no, no. You can come ’cause what you’re doing is definitely not rap,” said Badu. “In fact, I’ma send an Uber for you right now.”
The crowd gasped in response and Jidenna, whose hit “Classic Man” samples Azalea’s “Fancy,” was seen grinning.
In addition to her hosting duties, Badu hit the stage to perform “Phone Down” off her new mixtape But U Caint Use My Phone. She also performed “Tyrone,” with a cameo from Tyrone himself.
