Chris Brown Performs 'This Christmas' at White Hot Holidays
Chris Brown hit a snag last night while ringing in the holidays.
The R&B singer took the stage during “Taraji and Terrence’s White Hot Holidays” special, put on by the “Empire” stars and featuring performances from Mary J. Blige, John Legend, Patti LaBelle, and Jamie Foxx, as well as the show’s Jussie Smollett and Bryshere Y. Gray.
But it was Brown’s set that got the most attention. Breezy, whose new album Royalty arrives Dec. 18, performed a medley of “Back to Sleep” and “This Christmas,” inciting a Twitter backlash noting the difficulty he seemed to have keeping control of his voice. Tank joined him halfway through the Donny Hathaway cover, duetting with the suit-clad star.
Brown took to Twitter to address the backlash. “I appreciate @TherealTaraji for allowing me to come on their Holiday special. Grind season been in full effect. Been under the weather,” he wrote.
MJ didn't score 50 every night. I'm just glad I was given the opportunity. #HappyHolidays ❤️

Henson also took to the social media platform to defend Brown. “Y’all know what @chrisbrown is capable of vocally. HE SHOWED UP W/LOVE IN HIS HEART PERIOD Happy #WhiteHotHolidays,” she tweeted.
