Mariah Carey Engaged to James Packer
Mariah Carey is set to tie the knot. The superstar singer and her billionaire boyfriend James Packer are engaged.
The proposal took place in New York City on Thursday evening (Jan. 21), according to PEOPLE.
Carey, 45, and Packer, 48, an Australian businessman, met at the Hercules premiere in July 2014.
“He’s just an incredible guy. He really is a good person, and that’s hard to find,” Carey told “Access Hollywood.” “I think anybody that’s a friend of his would say the same thing, if not more, so I can’t say enough nice things about him. He’s just a spectacular guy.”
They made their red carpet debut at The Intern premiere in September 2015 after being spotted on an Italian vacation in June.
This will be the third marriage for both Packer and Carey, who was previously married to Nick Cannon and Tommy Mottola. Packer has three young children with his ex-wife Erica Baxter, while Carey has 4-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, whom she shares with Cannon.
UPDATE: Vogue has revealed Mariah’s stunning engagement ring from her new fiancé. The 35-carat rock, valued at an estimated $7.5 million, was designed by jeweler Wilfredo Rosado.
Mariah’s ex-husband Nick Cannon congratulated the couple on their nuptials, writing, “Congrats to Mariah Carey and James! May God Bless Your Future Union… #GreatPeople #GreatCouple.”
