Video: Lil Mama - 'Memes'
Lil Mama takes on Internet haters in the video for “Memes,” a single off her December EP Take Me Back.
The Lil Mama crying meme inspired the song and now it has influenced its Malu-directed video too. An excerpt from her infamous 2011 “Breakfast Club” interview kicks the visuals off, showing that the jokes about her tears are rooted in a heartfelt conversation about her late mother’s battle with cancer.
“You gon’ get exposed if you think you’re gonna kill me with memes,” the 26-year-old rhymes on the track while sporting a white pantsuit and a cane in a throne-like chair.
“Memes” also pulls inspiration from the Notorious B.I.G.’s 1997 classic “Kick in the Door” off his legendary Life After Death LP. To go along with that, Biggie scenes cut in and out of the video.
